Burford was expected to go back to her Murphys home, but has not been seen or heard from since her appointment.

Hewitt said her bank card was used twice on Thursday: in Colinga, Calif. at 6:30 p.m. and in Lake Isabelle at 11:30 p.m.

Burford was driving a faded silver or taupe colored 1996 Jeep Cherokee, with license plate 4YMC949.

Foul play is not suspected in Burford's disappearance, Hewitt said.

State park searched in hunt for missing mom Jessica Heeringa

10:22 AM, May 3, 2013
By Elisha Anderson
Detroit Free Press Staff Writer

Police came up empty-handed after searching a state park in Norton Shores on Thursday for a western Michigan mother who vanished from her job nearly a week ago.

Investigators had received a tip of gunshots heard between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. Saturday in the area of P.J. Hoffmaster State Park. Jessica Heeringa is believed to have been abducted between 10:50 and 11:15 p.m. April 26 from her job at the Exxon Mobil gas station on East Sternberg Road in Norton Shores.

Norton Shores Police Chief Daniel Shaw said police did not find anything in the air and ground searches of the park. Prior to the search, police learned a person had found sunglasses that resembled glasses Heeeinga owned, but Heeringa’s fiancé later said they did not belong to her, Shaw said.

Police said they believe the tip about gunshots is credible but pointed out that Saturday marked the opening day of turkey hunting season, and hunting is permitted in the southern part of Norton Shores.

“We have no information connecting the gunshots to the Jessica Heeringa case, but we have organized an aerial and ground search of the area,” Shaw said in a news release Thursday prior to the search.

The 1,200-acre state park is about 4 miles from the gas station where Heeringa was last seen.

Police said they believe Heeringa, 25, who has a 3-year-old son, was abducted because there were no signs of a struggle in the station, and her belongings — including her purse and vehicle — were left behind.

Her family set up a command center in the shopping center parking lot next to the Exxon Mobil and continued to gather there Thursday.

“We’re still here, and we haven’t given up hope,” said Diane Homrich, Heeringa’s grandmother.

She said people are continuing to bring food, offer hugs and pray for Heeringa’s safe return.

“The community is still coming out, and the support is what keeps us going,” Homrich said.

Police, who said the Exxon Mobil station did not have surveillance cameras when Heeringa disappeared, released two videos earlier this week from area businesses showing a silver or gray minivan seen near the gas station around the time she vanished. Police also released a sketch of the van driver and have been following up on tips.

“Keep all the tips coming,” Homrich said. “It’s just going to take that one tip for them to get her and bring her home.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Observer, an anonymous tip line, at 231-722-7463.

Deputies looking for missing elderly Orlando man

By Joel Schipper, Reporter
Last Updated: Friday, March 29, 2013, 5:47 PM

Orlando -- Crews continued their search Friday for an 89-year-old man who hasn’t been seen for weeks but his family says they are keeping up hope he will be found.

Lloyd Williams was last seen at his Pine Hills home on the 5400 Blue Tick Drive on March 14. Crews searched a wooded area Friday as neighbors and family members asked the public for help.

Cecila Keys and her sister Jamilla live next door to the elderly man and said he was well known throughout the neighborhood and loved to walk.

“All the time, all the time. [He] just walked,” Jamilla said.

“He walks down to CVS, Walgreens, every place he goes. He’s a known walker in the neighborhood and people know his as that so they recognize him,” said Lt. Orange County Sheriff Max Maxwell.

Neighbors called police after noticing the back door to William’s home on Blue Tick Drive had been left open for a while. They called his son who lives in Jamaica who then called police.

“I’ve been putting up posters, I go to some of the places I know he frequently used to go, give them some of the pictures and stuff, things like that,” said William’s son Lancelot.

The sheriff’s office searched a half mile radius by foot, on ATV’s and even with horses Friday.

“The high profile of us and the horses out there makes people come out and ask questions and then we ask questions of them,” Maxwell said.

Lancelot said his father was showing the early signs of dementia.

“It seemed like it was gradually coming on and due the reports I got from the neighbors, I would tend to believe that may be the case,” Lancelot said. “I am just hoping the police will come up with something because they are really intensifying their search so I am hoping something will come up.”

Search crews have called off the search for the day and it will remain a missing persons case.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to call the Orange County Sheriff's Office at 407-836-HELP (4357).

Search underway for grade-school teacher last seen at Lakeview bar

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 5:25 PM

Katie Moore / Eyewitness News

NEW ORLEANS - A Jefferson Parish teacher is still missing after her mother reported not being able to get in touch with her over the weekend.

She was last seen at Parlay's bar on Harrison Avenue in Lakeview.

26-year-old Terrilynn Monette moved here a year and a half ago to be a teacher. Now, a fun night out with a friend from college has ended with a desperate search to find her.

“We just don't know where she is and we want her back,” said Sheryl Bennett, Monnette’s Aunt who lives in New Orleans East.

Monnette normally talks to family members every day.

“We went to the apartment and knocked on the door, no one answered. No car was in the drive. And we have not heard from her. You call and it keeps going to voice mail,” Bennett said.

Monnette teaches second grade at Woodland West Elementary on the West bank, but family members say she didn't show up for work Monday.

“It's OK she went out for a drink. Everyone does. But her not calling me or her sister, that's when we knew that it was automatically out of character for her,” said Tiffany Robinson, one of Monnette’s best friends in New Orleans.

Monnette’s family said she went out to dinner with a friend from college at Southern University. Then they met his uncle and friend out for drinks at Parlay’s on Harrison Avenue.

“She was wearing a teal and white striped sweater. And she was sitting right here at the corner of the bar,” said a worker at Parlay’s who didn’t want to be identified.

Police said the sweater was pink and yellow, however, the worker said she remembers Monnette’s face and group of friends. The worker said about six guys, some of them regulars, were hanging out with Monnette having a good time Friday night. By last call at 3:45 Saturday morning, Monnette had already walked out of the bar with one of them.

“It was one my security members started leaving once the doors were closed and locked that they popped their head back in and said there were two people still sitting a car outside,” the worker said.

By the time the worker left at 5:45 a.m., Monette’s Black Honda Accord was missing. No one has seen her, or her car, since.

“It's awful. And it's just not knowing. And I know the danger. It's the unknown. Is she suffering? Is she hurt? We just don't know,” Bennett said.

Police said Monnette has a tattoo on her left leg.

If you have seen her or her car, call New Orleans Police at (504) 821-2222.
