Search for missing Plainfield man set for Saturday

A search party will gather Saturday morning on the Far Southside to seek clues in the disappearance of a 27-year-old Plainfield man.

More than 100 people are expected to meet at 10 a.m. at an office building at 536 Turtle Creek South Drive. From there, volunteers will fan out to search for Morgan M. Johnson, who has been missing a month.

Johnson was working at Brightpoint's Plainfield operations and living at the nearby Value Place extended-stay hotel when family, friends and co-workers last heard from him.

Volunteers search for missing Plainfield man

Dozens of volunteers fanned out today in Plainfield and downtown Indianapolis to search for clues in the disappearance of 27-year-old Morgan Johnson, who was last seen May 18.

About 30 people organized in Plainfield, where Johnson works and has been living at an extended-stay motel, and another 25 fanned out to check downtown Indianapolis parking garages for Johnson’s car.

He drives a white 1995 two-door Pontiac Grand Am with Indiana license plate JS1830.

Morgan Johnson has been missing for a month, and every day since has been a long one for his worried family.

Johnson, 27, was last seen May 18, but his family didn't realize he was missing until May 23 because they thought he had attended a church retreat.

On Saturday, his aunt, Janice Johnson, met volunteers organizing to search for clues to her nephew's disappearance. It was one of at least three searches for adults missing in Central Indiana.

TERRE HAUTE — The search continues for a missing man whose family in Vigo County continues to organize searches and canvass areas he was known to frequent.

Morgan Johnson, 27, was last seen May 18 at his residence at an extended-stay hotel at the I-70 exit in Plainfield.

On Tuesday, Ann Johnson Smith talked to a coalition of people in Terre Haute organized to spread the word about her missing son. Johnson has a medical condition and may have been distraught about his grandfather’s recent death.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The mother of a Plainfield man missing for more than a month now said she believes he is still alive, despite a life-threatening medical condition.

Morgan Johnson, 27, was last seen at 11:45 p.m. May 18 leaving the Value Place hotel at 6295 Gateway Blvd. He lived at the hotel and worked at nearby Brightpoint Inc., family members said.

Johnson's mother, Ann Johnson Smith, issued a plea for help in the search for her son in a video posted on YouTube this week.

Search Continues For Indiana Man Missing For More Than A Month

For more than a month, family, friends and colleagues of Morgan M. Johnson have searched for clues that might lead to the missing Indiana man’s whereabouts. Try as they will, all efforts have fallen short, including attempts, up until now, to get national media outlets involved.

"We have been working hard on that but what exposure we have gotten is here locally and in Indianapolis," Johnson's friend, Avery Garrett, told The Huffington Post.

Johnson, 27, was last seen on May 18 when he left his room at the Value Place Motel in Plainfield, Ind.

Missing man’s mother files civil rights complaint

TERRE HAUTE — The mother of a 2002 Terre Haute North Vigo graduate who has been missing since May has filed a civil rights complaint against the police agency investigating her son’s disappearance.

Ann Smith said Tuesday that she also wants the case of 27-year-old Morgan Johnson transferred from the Plainfield Police Department to the Indiana State Police, because she believes her son’s case has not been receiving the same attention given to other missing person cases handled by other police agencies.

“I want the case moved from the Plainfield Police Department,” Smith said following a noontime meeting of the Find Morgan Johnson Coalition. “I’ve asked for the Indiana State Police [to take the case] because I feel they are bigger and better.”

Morgan Johnson, 27, was last seen at 11:45 p.m. on May 18 as he left the Value Place Hotel at 6295 Gateway Blvd. in Plainfield. Johnson had been living at the hotel and worked at nearby Brightpoint.

Though the prospects of finding Johnson seem bleaker in some ways with each passing day, the resolve of friends and family members hasn't been deterred and is picking up steam.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - It's been almost three months since Terre Haute native Morgan Johnson went missing.

Family, friends, search teams, and residents are pulling out all the stops to find him.

The Find Morgan Johnson Coalition has expanded their search by using a mass e-mail campaign.

"We contacted all the social service agencies, the churches, the homeless shelters, hospitals in Indianapolis, then we expended our search to the state of Indiana," Find Morgan Johnson Coalition co-chair Betty Clary said.

Vigil held for missing Plainfield man

PLAINFIELD - The Johnson family is hoping you can give them a gift for the holidays. They're looking for any information about their son Morgan, who's been missing for six months.

This weekend, they are holding a vigil to pray for his safe return. It is this Saturday, November 19th from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm at the Value Place Hotel on Gateway Boulevard in Plainfield.

Morgan Johnson Missing for One Year

A sad anniversary to remember, today marks one year since Morgan Johnson was last seen.

The then-27-year old Terre Haute native was last seen on May 18, 2011 in Plainfield.

His family says he suffers from seizures and needs medication.

They believe he was heading to Washington, D.C. for his grandfather's funeral, and could be in the city or somewhere along the route.

Although a year has now passed, friends and family aren't giving up hope: the "Find Morgan Johnson Coalition" and Facebook page are still getting the word out.
