Search expands to Del. for mother missing for 2 weeks

By CANDICE EVANS, The (Salisbury, Md.) Daily Times

Updated Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 9:28 am

POCOMOKE CITY, Md.  Christine Marie Sheddy stayed behind with her two sons when a Pocomoke couple left their home to pick up their children from school, according to Lynn Dodenhoff, Sheddy's mother.

"When they returned, Christine was gone and the boys were home alone," Dodenhoff, 50, said Tuesday.

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office continues to look for Sheddy, 26, who disappeared more than two weeks ago. She was last seen Nov. 13 in the area of Byrd Road in Pocomoke City.

"We still don't know where she is," said Detective Robert Trautman of the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation, who is handling the case. "We've expanded our search to Delaware and Virginia."

Sheddy and her two sons, ages 2 and 4, were staying with Dodenhoff at her Bowers Beach home before traveling to Pocomoke City. Sheddy told her mother she was visiting a couple she met through her boyfriend, who is also the father of her children, Dodenhoff said.

"Christine was supposed to come back here and pack her stuff to visit her sister in Philadelphia on Nov. 17," Dodenhoff said. "Nobody has heard from her, and she's never left her children home alone."

Currently, Sheddy's two boys are staying with their father, said Trautman, who doesn't suspect any foul play in this investigation.

"I've always known where she was," said Dodenhoff. "Even when we've gotten in an argument, she always called me."

Sheddy is 5-foot-3 and weighs 100 pounds. Anyone with information on Sheddy's location or disappearance is asked to call Trautman at (410) 352-3476 or (800) 811-8396.

Search Continues For Woman Last Seen In Pocomoke

By Shawn J. Soper, News Editor
Originally published November 30, 2007

BERLIN  Worcester County law enforcement agencies this week have expanded their search for a Delaware woman and mother of two who went missing in the Pocomoke area over two weeks ago.

Christine Marie Sheddy, 26, of Bowers Beach, Del., was last seen on Nov. 13 in the Byrd Street area of Pocomoke. She has been missing now for over two weeks, touching off a search effort across Worcester County that has now been expanded to include neighboring Delaware and Virginia.

We dont have any more information on the missing woman, said Worcester County Sheriffs Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Ed Schreier this week. We have conducted searches in the area and have not been able to locate her yet,

Sheddy left her Bowers Beach, Del. home on Nov. 13 with her two sons, ages two and four, in tow to visit a couple in Pocomoke she had met earlier through her boyfriend. Sheddy remained behind with her two sons at the Pocomoke residence while the couple went to pick up their own children at school.

When the couple returned, Sheddy was gone and her two boys were left home alone. Sheddy was supposed to have returned to her Bowers Beach residence on Nov. 17. She was reported missing, touching off a search throughout the county and beyond. According to reports, Sheddys two sons are now staying with their father.

The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation (WCBI) has taken the lead on the case with the cooperation of allied law enforcement agencies although WCBI detectives do not suspect foul play at this time.

Sheddys information has been submitted to other law enforcement agencies in the county including Ocean City. Her picture and description has been circulated to the allied agencies.

We have her information in our data base and her picture and description has become part of our routine roll call each day, said Ocean City Police Departments Barry Neeb. We havent been given any indication she might be in Ocean City, but we remain on the lookout for her.

Sheddy is 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs around 100 pounds. Anyone with information is urged to call WCBI Detective Robert Trautman at 1-800-811-8396.

Missing Woman Christine Sheddy Updates
http://www.wgmd.com/ blog/ 2007/ 12/ 24/ missing-woman-christine-sheddy-updates/

Many people have asked about the fate of the children left behind when Christine Sheddy vanished in the Pokomoke City area Nov 13, 2007.  Christine has three children; two of them, (the young boys who were with her in Maryland) are now staying with their father Levi Hall, and his mother Joyce Hall in Milford, Delaware.  I was surprised to learn this detail after Fridays Dan Gaffney Show broadcast; surprised because Joyce Hall is an employee of WGMD radio.  She placed a note in my mailbox at work explaining she is Levis mother, and she and Levi are caring for the children.  Talk about hitting close to home!

No suspected foul play in missing woman case; FBI currently not involved

Wed, 26 Dec 2007 06:23:51 -0500

There is new information in the case of a woman gone missing from Pocomoke. Still no sign this hour of 27 year old Christine Sheddy of Milford who went missing November 13th. WGMD just spoke to Sgt. Richard Klebon of the Maryland State Police and he tells WGMD that the search continues, but the FBI is not involved.

Klebon adds that there is no suspected foul play.

About the missing persons list---Delaware State Police told WGMD earlier that as of last week, she is not on the local or national missing persons list. However Sgt. Klebon tells us differently.

Search is still on for missing woman

By Candice Evans
Staff Writer
12/29/07

POCOMOKE CITY -- Worcester County detectives continue to search for woman who went missing from a Pocomoke couple's home last month.

Christine Marie Sheddy's family recently offered $5,000 for information that will help find her.

"We continue to get calls and information," said Sgt. Tim Keen of the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation on Friday. "We're trying everything we can to track her down."

Sheddy, 26, was last seen Nov. 13 in the area of Byrd Road in Pocomoke City. Sheddy and her two sons, ages 2 and 4, were staying with her mother, Lynn Dodenhoff at her Bowers Beach home before traveling to Pocomoke City. Sheddy told her mother she was visiting a couple she met through her boyfriend, who is also the father of her children.

Sheddy stayed behind with her two sons when the Pocomoke couple left their home to pick up their children from school.

When they returned, Sheddy was gone and her boys were home alone, said Dodenhoff, 50.

Detective Robert Trautman of the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation, said they expanded their search to Delaware and Virginia in November.

Sheddy's two boys were staying with their father, Trautman said in earlier reports.

Even though police don't suspect any foul play, Keen said "we're looking into everything."

Sheddy is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. Anyone with information on Sheddy's location or disappearance is asked to call Trautman at 410-352-3476 or 800-811-8396.

Police say body found in Pocomoke not missing woman

January 16, 2008

POCOMOKE CITY -- The Worcester County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday identified the body found in the woods on Sunday by fox trappers as 42-year-old Judy Lynn Wojcik.

The woman's body "absolutely is not" that of missing person Christine Sheddy, or that of any other missing person on record in Worcester County, said spokesman Sgt. Ed Schreier. Sheddy, 27, was last seen Nov. 13 in the Pocomoke City area.

Wojcik's death was ruled a homicide by the Office of the State Medical Examiner in Baltimore following an autopsy. The Worcester County Sheriff's Office is offering a reward for further information.

Local fox trappers found the body early Sunday and notified the property manager, said Detective Sgt. Michael A. McDermott of the Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the New Bridge Road area and upon their arrival discovered Wojcik's body. The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

McDermott said the fox trappers said they last checked their traps Saturday, which leads investigators to believe the body was dumped sometime over the weekend.

Wojcik had no fixed address on record, according to police.

The Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Investigation are now working jointly on the case with the Maryland State Police.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Worcester County Sheriff's Office at 410-632-1111.

Did the authorities give up on Christine Sheddy ?

February 17, 2008

The news the past two weeks in my neck of the woods has surrounded the killer of Jessie Davis, the 26-year-old mother of one (and expecting another) from Plain Township, Stark County, Ohio.  Bobby Cutts Jr. was convicted of her murder and that of her soon-to-be-born baby girl, Chloe, among other charges.  The disappearance of Jessie in mid-June prompted search parties, some called for by Cutts (who at the time was not a suspect), others led by a group called Texas EquuSearch.  Apparently, the guilt of what he did led him to lead authorities to Jessies body nine days after her disappearance in a Summit County park, a place where no one would have ever thought of looking.

I see a lot of parallels between the case of the missing (and later found) Jessie Davis and that of missing (and yet to be found) Christine Sheddy. The big differences are, first of all, no Christine, and secondly, no one stepping forward saying they know something, one way or another, about her disappearance. Seeing as how shes been missing for three months now, foul play is suspected, but apparently (if that is the case) whoever is responsible is at peace with him/her self (noot pointing any fingers).

I also dont see any involvement from those close to Christine. First of all, where has Levi Hall been in this whole thing ? If Christine were my girlfriend, Id be searching day and night for her and I wouldnt rest until she was found. And I would have the support of my family as well, no matter what they thought of her. Family is about binding together to help one of their own in a time of need, not about hurling fiery darts at the family of the missing party. Its time for Joyce Hall and her family to bury the hatchet and extend an olive branch to Lynn Dodenhoff and family, for the good of Christine, no matter what she thinks about Christines character.

Someone has suggetsed, on another blog, that Christine ran away. I want to cover that angle, and play devils advocate for a moment. Say she did just walk away. There are photos of Christine all over the web. There are notices of her disappearance all over the place. Plus, we live in the most technologically-advanced age in the history of the world. Nearly everyone has a camera on their person at all times, in the form of a cel phone. If she was in another town, youd think someone somewhere would have seen one of these notices, seen her, taken a picture, sent it to either WCBOI, WBOC, WGMD, or some media outlet (at the minimum) and lead officials to look in that area.

Once again, courtesy of WGMD, if you know anything about the disappearance of Christine Sheddy, here is the information you need

A reward is being offered for information that leads to finding Christine Marie Sheddy, who has been missing since last month. Sheddy is 27 years old, about 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. She went missing on Nov. 13, and at that time Sheddy had blond, shoulder-length hair. Sheddy and her two young sons were staying with her mother at her Bowers Beach home. Sheddy told her mother she was going to Pocomoke to visit a couple she met through her boyfriend, who is the father of her children. Anyone with information about Sheddy should contact the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation or the Worcester County Sheriffs Office. Those numbers 410-352-3476 or 410-632-1111.

Christine Marie Sheddy

Investigation Into Md. Mom's Disappearance Continues

Police in Worcester County, Md. are seeking the public's help in locating 27-year-old Christine Marie Sheddy.

Cops say Christine was living with her mother in Bowers Beach, Del. when she decided to move to Pocomoke City, Md. in November 2007.

Investigators learned that Christine packed up her children and moved to Maryland to live with a couple she met through her boyfriend. Her mother says Christine wanted to get away from everything and start a new life. But after living in Pocomoke for a short time, Christine became disillusioned and expressed a desire to leave.

Cops say on the day Christine disappeared, she stayed at home with her two children while the couple she was staying with left the house to pick up their own children from school.

But cops say when the couple returned home, Christine's children were there but she was nowhere to be found.

Was Christine lured from her home, or did she leave on her own? Police just don't know.

Cops have talked to Christine's friends, interviewed the couple with whom Christine was staying, and reached out to the public for information on anyone who might have encountered the young mother.

To date, no one has seen or heard from Christine, and with each passing day, investigators grow more concerned.

Cops say the case remains unsolved, but the investigation into Christine Sheddy's disappearance continues.
