Reward offered for missing daughter's body return

With huge reward money at stake, a Valley father is hoping his missing daughter's body will be found after eight long years.

Olen Morrison visits his daughter's grave site often, but he says it's just a tombstone.

His daughter's body is not buried there.

Joe Mammana, a Philadelphia businessman and longstanding victims’ rights advocate, along with The Midwest Coalition For The Missing, and 411Gina For Missing, “Squeaky Wheel World Tour” has joined forces to bring hope once again to 20 missing persons and their families.

That includes Christy Morrison, a Boaz woman missing since 1998.

There is a tour going on throughout the United States and 8 countries called “The Squeaky Wheel Tour” from Oct. 17 to Nov. 4. The Squeaky Wheel Tour represents more 150 missing persons and has volunteer bands playing in 50 states and eight countries.

The name was derived for all those cases that do not have the scandal or drama to make national attention, and make a way for those cases with little to no hope to find resurrection by offering $100,000 rewards for 20 missing persons worth a total of $2 million for 20 days.

Beginning Nov. 5, through Nov. 24, anyone offering information leading to the recovery of the missing person or to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the person being missing will receive a $100,000 reward.

All tips must be offered during the three-week time frame.

All tips must be directed to the proper law enforcement agency, in Morrison’s case the Boaz Police Department.

Mammana has successfully aided in bringing resolution to four victims and their families.

Reward From Afar Sparks Renewed Interest in Missing Woman

A Marshall County mother of two disappeared 8 years ago. No one's heard from her since. Now, a Philadelphia business man has brought new hope to this cold case.

Christy Lynn Morrison Garrard was last seen at the intersection of Roden Ave and Highway 431 in Boaz, on August 14th, 1998. The investigation into her disappearance has led her family to believe she was murdered, but that's speculation. Regardless, eight years later, there is still no closure.


Now, a website called 411Gina-dot-org tells Christy's story, along with the stories of 20 other missing people. A Philadelphia businessman, Joseph Mammana, is putting up a 100-thousand dollar reward for information. Christy's family doesn't know him, but they hope someone takes him up on his offer. "Your family will never be the same." says Debbie Morrison, Christy's mother. "You continue to search and just hope somebody will come forward and please tell you where she's at."


If you have any information on the disappearance of Christy Lynn, call the Boaz police Department. The 100-thousand reward for information is only good through November 24th.

Valley man offering help to missing family

There's no news on the whereabouts of Kim Whitton and 11-year-old Haleigh Culwell of Jackson County.

The last time they were seen was June 21st. It's been an agonizing month for their family.

"We don't know where they are. We don't know if they're alive or dead," said Sherri Compton, Kim's sister and Haleigh's aunt.

But if there's one man who knows what they're going through, it's Boaz Fire Chief Olen Morrison.

"I know exactly what they feel. I know their hurts. I know their pain. The 14th of next month will be 9 years that my daughter, Christy, come up missing. I'm not giving up. I'll still search for her until the Lord takes me home," said Chief Morrison.

It's nine difficult years Chief Morrison hopes he can use to help someone else.

"My heart goes out for Ms. Compton (Kim's mother/Haleigh's grandmother), for her daughter and granddaughter. And I intend to give them a call and go see them and I hope to be a blessing to them offering them some hope, some comfort, and tell them not to give up," said Chief Morrison.

Offering hope is something Chief Morrison is good at. He works with the national organization "Team Hope." It's part of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

"I do calls and counseling all over the United States for kids that come up missing," said Chief Morrison.

But when the opportunity arose to minister to a hurting family right here in the Valley, Chief Morrison says he knew what he had to do.

He plans to visit Kim and Haleigh's family this weekend, giving them a shoulder to cry on and understanding very few can offer.

Chief Morrison is also wanting to talk with Kim and Haleigh's family and law enforcement about organizing a massive search. He says he has the contacts. All he needs is the word "go."

My Note: THis is not a surprise. Olen is one of my teammates at TEAM Hope and he is indeed a kindhearted, compassionate man.

Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian female. Brown hair, green eyes. Garrard's maiden name is Morrison and some accounts refer to her as Christy Morrison Garrard or Christy Morrison. Her ears are pierced and she has a tattoo of the cartoon character Mickey Mouse on her left shoulder. She may have blonde highlights in her hair. Some agencies spell Garrard's middle name "Lynn."

Details of Disappearance

Garrard was last seen in the vicinity of Roden Avenue and U. S. Highway 431 in Boaz, Alabama at 9:00 a.m. on August 14, 1998. She has never been heard from again. Extensive searches of the area produced no clues related to her disappearance. Her family members received information that she may have been a homicide victim, but Garrard's body has never been located. She has two children. Her case remains unsolved.

Investigators following up on Boaz missing person�s case

Following up on leads in a missing person case is extremely frustrating, especially if the missing is a personal family friend.

Boaz Police Chief Terry Davis knows all too well those feelings of frustration as he has tried to solve the disappearance of 24-year-old Christy Morrison Garrard, missing since Aug. 14, 1998.

Fishermen found a human skull in late February while fishing in Lake Guntersville. Shortly after the find, Davis and his investigators were asked to supply case information on the two thus-unsolved missing persons cases in his jurisdiction in the hopes the skull belongs to one of the missing women.
