Auburn Police looking for missing teen

Story Published: Oct 27, 2006 at 4:30 PM PST

By Tracy Vedder

She should have called home long ago. And while Caleta White's family hopes for the best, they fear the worst. Now her family and police need your help to find her.

"I miss her laughter," says White's older sister La Rhonda Ward. "She was a very happy person and this is just definitely not like her at all."

Ward says Caleta is like any 18 year old. She might go off in a huff. But also like any 18 year old, she lives on her cell phone.

And Ward can't explain why her sister - her best friend - hasn't called or seen her since late August.

"She'd never, ever," exclaims Ward, "she would not take that long to call me back; she would definitely would have called me."

If Caleta went where she said she was going, detectives figure she probably got off at a bus stop in Tukwila, north of SeaTac. She was living nearby with her boyfriend.

Several things make police and Caleta's family suspect foul play.

"She's had ample time to contact family and hasn't," says Auburn Police Sgt. Jamie Sidell. "Her acquaintance, her boyfriend has a criminal background, her acquaintances stories about where they last saw her are inconsistent."

Caleta is small and slight, standing 5 foot 1 inch tall and weighing just over 80 pounds. She was last seen wearing a yellow Adidas jacket, blue jeans and yellow boots.

Her family misses her, and it's just getting worse, "birthdays and holidays that she would always be there and she hasn't called," Ward wipes away tears.

Police don't know if this is foul play or just an 18 year old being irresponsible. Either way, her family needs to know. Although White was last seen in Tukwila, her mother lives in Auburn and that's where her disappearance was first reported. So any tips on this case should be reported to Auburn Police or 911.

Police Search For Missing Auburn Woman

POSTED: 4:11 pm PDT October 26, 2006

AUBURN, Wash. -- Auburn police said foul play may be involved in the disappearance of an 18-year-old woman who was last seen in August, officers said Thursday.

Caleta S. White told her mother she was taking a Metro bus to meet her boyfriend in Tukwila on Aug. 21, police said.

Her family has not heard from her since then, and information from friends of hers has been inconsistent, police said. KIROTV.com - News - Police Search For Missing Auburn Woman

Police ask for help finding missing 18-year-old Auburn woman

STEVE MAYNARD; The News Tribune
Published: October 26th, 2006 04:40 PM

Police are asking for help finding an 18-year-old Auburn woman has been missing for more than two months.
Caleta S. White was last seen by her mother on Aug. 21, Auburn police said today. She told her mother then she was taking a Metro bus to Tukwila to meet her boyfriend. White also missed a doctor's appointment on Aug. 24. Circumstances lead police to believe foul play may be involved in White's disappearance.

Sister pleads for public's help in finding missing 18-year-old: Police believe teen may be victim of foul play

By Mike Archbold
Journal Reporter

The older sister of an 18-year-old Auburn girl who has been missing for more than two months appealed Friday for the public's help in finding her.

Police believe Caleta "KK" White may be a victim of foul play.

Facing a small group of TV cameras and reporters outside the Auburn police station, La Rhonda Ward, 24, of Kent said she wishes her sister would call her, but she is worried that might not be possible.

She held an envelope with pictures of her sister.

"She's never gone a week without calling me," she said, holding back tears. "I definitely think foul play is involved."

White was last seen by family members Aug. 21 when she left her mother's house in Auburn to take a bus to her boyfriend's place in Tukwila, where she was living.

Ward said she was seen the next afternoon on Metro Bus 128 in Tukwila but no one has seen her since or heard from her.

Caleta has been placed on Project Jason's 18 Wheel Angels campaign. A special poster has been made for her and can be downloaded and printed for placement. More information about the program, and the link for the poster can be found here:

http://projectjason.org/18wheel.shtml

In addition to the campaign, Caleta was also featured in a national trucking publications, Independent Contractor. This free magazine is distributed in truck stops nationwide and has a circulation of about 150,000.

Independent Contractor and TruckJobSeekers are two of Target Media Partner's many publications. In partnership with Project Jason, they each feature two missing persons each per month. You can pick up your free copies at a local truck stop, but if it's far from you, you may want to call and ask if they carry that magazine. These are NOT with the regular for purchase magazines.

We hope this helps in the search for Caleta. Please consider printing and placing a poster in businesses in your community.

Thank you.
