Woman goes missing after upsetting day
08/27/08
By Gene Park
gpark@starbulletin.com

A Waikiki woman who was upset after a bad day last week has been missing since then from her Kalakaua Avenue apartment.

Her husband of three years, financial planner Stan Jacobs, came home shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday and found his wife, Kimberly, upset.

"She was tired and needed some rest, and a little bit down," the husband said. "I came back at 8, and she wasn't there."

His wife had to deal with stress from back pains and a harassing tenant they have in one of their California properties, he said.

Jacobs assumed his wife had gone to a friend's home nearby, as she usually did, and didn't begin to fear for her safety until after an off-island friend filed a missing-person's report with police.

"I wasn't concerned the next day because we have many friends nearby," Jacobs said.

He said his wife had left her cell phone, purse and other belongings at their home. He said he doesn't have reason to believe she left the state.

Jacobs also said he doesn't believe his wife was attacked. Their home was not disturbed when he returned.

"Kimberly is very powerful, forceful, decisive," Jacobs said. "I'm not even thinking that anything happened that somebody took her against her will. That's not realistic."

The Jacobses have three children and a grandchild whom she cared for constantly, Jacobs said.

Police said Kimberly Jacobs has a distinctive limp. Her husband described her right foot as being slightly bent in and should be visible since she usually wears slippers or sandals.

She is Caucasian, has brown hair and brown eyes, is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 808-955-8300 or *CRIME on a cell phone.

"Just let us know you're OK," Jacobs said in a message to his wife. "The baby's asking for tutu all the time. She needs tutu. Everybody loves you."

Missing woman's husband makes a passionate plea

By Leland Kim - bio | email

DOWNTOWN HONOLULU (KHNL) - The husband of a missing Waikiki woman made a passionate plea Tuesday morning.  He's asking for the public's help to find his wife.  Kimberly Jacobs has been missing since late last week.

At this point, the police aren't suspecting foul play.  Her husband Stan says this is very unlike her to disappear for days without telling him, and just wants his wife back home safe and sound.

Kimberly Jacobs is an outgoing wife, mother and grandmother.  The 47-year-old has been missing since Thursday.

"I don't know what happened," said Stan Jacobs, her husband. "It doesn't make sense. So I would like everybody's help."

Stan Jacobs says she was tired and needed some rest.  So, he went to a condo board meeting by himself.

"And I came back up at 8 o'clock and she wasn't there," he said. "And I thought she had gone some place close.  We have a lot of friends close by, so I wasn't concerned really."

She hasn't been seen since then.  Her purse, keys, and other belongings were left behind.  Stan Jacobs says she can't go very far, because she walks with a limp.

"People look at her foot, that's when they'd be able to see that it's bent in," he said.  "It's bent in this way, and she'd always wear sandals so it's not hidden."

Before she disappeared, she was dealing with back problems, a leak in her condo, and an unruly tenant who lives in her property on the mainland.

"It's not that any one of those was major, but all of it together was a lot to deal with," said Stan Jacobs.

Kimberly Jacobs has been missing for more than four days now.  With each passing day, her family and friends -- especially her two-year-old granddaughter -- miss her more and more.

"They all love you," said Stan Jacobs. "Everybody loves you. The baby's been asking for tutu all the time, She needs tutu. Everybody loves you and your smile lights the world for everybody around you."

Hoping a light helps her find her way home.

Kimberly Jacobs is about 5-feet, 4-inches tall, and weighs about 130 pounds.  If you have any information about her, you're encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on your cell phone.

Search for Missing Waikiki Woman Continues

Written by Lisa Kubota - lkubota@kgmb9.com
September 16, 2008 06:51 PM

The family of a missing Waikiki woman is renewing its plea for help. Kimberly Jacobs vanished several weeks ago. Police still have no solid leads, but those close to her are more determined than ever to find her.

Temple Emanu-El is a place of faith. Now it is searching for one of its own. Jacobs and her husband, Stan, are part of the congregation.

"Stan has been coming fairly regularly and I think getting solace from the people here and solace, hopefully, from the prayers as well," said Rabbi Peter Schaktman. "Members of the congregation have also participated in some walks through Waikiki, at virtually every temple event we've had we've mentioned Kimberley and distributed flyers. We really want to try to make as many people know as possible what's going on," Schaktman said.

Kimberly Jacobs, 47, was last seen on August 21 at the couple's apartment. She left behind her car, purse and cell phone. Her husband said she was upset about several things, including leaks in their apartment and back pain.

"Everybody -- all of our friends, our family -- nobody thinks suicide. Nobody can see that," said her half-sister, Stephanie Humphries, who lives in Bonita, California.

Humphries said she was extremely concerned, especially after learning about problems in the couple's three-year marriage. Police said Stan Jacobs has been cooperating with the investigation and is not a suspect. There have been no confirmed sightings since her disappearance, and Humphries fears the worst has happened.

"I don't think she's alive. I don't. My cousins in Washington want to hold out hope. My mom wants to hope," said Humphries. "She would have called us. She wouldn't have left us all wondering where she is or hurt or upset."

Jacobs is 5'4" and 130 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. She walks with a limp because her foot is bent from childhood polio. Call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 with your tips.

Waikiki Woman's Family Pleads For Her Return
Missing Woman's Husband Says She Was Distraught When She Disappeared

POSTED: 3:43 pm HST September 19, 2008
UPDATED: 9:27 pm HST September 19, 2008

HONOLULU -- The family of a Waikiki woman who has been missing for a month pleaded for the public's help on Friday.

The last time Jacobs' daughter, Autumn Day, spoke with her mother was the day before she disappeared.

"It's so hard because there's nothing. It's like she just fell off the planet. It's hard because there's nothing to do," Day said.

Kimberly Jacobs, 47, disappeared the evening of Aug. 21.

Her husband said she was distraught over problems with a tenant in Los Angeles and a leak in their Waikiki apartment. Her purse and car keys were left behind.

It was a friend on the mainland who reported her missing.

"The two of them commiserate real well when they're not happy. So that's where I thought she was, and especially with all her stuff there, I wasn't that worried," Jacobs' husband, Stan, said.

Jacobs' family described her as outgoing and friendly and someone who would never abandon her family.

"She's a very upbeat, positive person that loved life and loved living here," Jacobs' nephew, Matt Williams, said.

Police have received about a dozen tips over the last month -- almost all of them in the Waikiki/Ala Moana area. However, they said there are no solid leads.

"I don't know. I don't know what happened to her. I'm hoping she had a nervous breakdown and she's hiding out somewhere. You know what I mean? That's what I'm hoping and praying for," Williams said.

Kimberly Jacobs is 5 foot 4 inches tall, 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes and walks with a noticeable limp.

Police asked anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 808-955-8300.

"Anything, even if it seems so small, it could be the thing, it could be the one thing we've been looking for, for almost a month now, and I just really want my mother back. It's just so hard," Day said.

Daughter of missing Waikiki woman makes tearful plea

HONOLULU (KHNL) - The daughter of a Waikiki woman who's been missing for about a month broke her silence Friday, pleading for the public's help in finding her mother.

Kimberly Jacobs left her purse and other belongings behind. Her family is praying for her safe return.

Tears stream down Autumn Day's face, the weight of her month-long ordeal quite clear. Despite extensive air and ground searches, there's still no sign of her mother, Kimberly Jacobs.

"I just, I really want my mother back," Day said through tears. "It's just so hard."

Family members describe the 47-year-old as an upbeat person who was involved in her community. But police say she was emotionally distraught when she vanished from her Waikiki apartment August 21st.

"It's so hard because there's nothing," Day said. "Just, it's like she just fell off the planet."

"It hurts really bad and it hurts my heart," Matt Williams, missing woman's nephew, said while choking back tears. "And I wish I knew something as opposed to nothing. That's why I'm here just trying to put the word out."

Jacobs' husband of three-and-a-half years plans a massive search in the Ala Moana area this Sunday.

"I miss everything about her," Stan Jacobs, missing woman's husband, said.

Even though his wife walks with a limp from having polio as a child, he believes she's gone unnoticed.

"If we have a real big blitz, we're hoping that that stops and that we all...sorry...can have Kimberly back," Stan Jacobs said while choking back tears.

If you'd like to help in this weekend's search, meet on Atkinson Drive near Ala Moana Center at 5:30 pm Sunday.

If you have any information about this case, call Honolulu police.
