ADRIANNA NIKOL WIX in the News

Family worried when she didn't call
Missing woman's boyfriend changed story, police say

SPRINGFIELD — Robertson County sheriff's officials are searching for Jennifer Wix, 22, and her daughter, Adrianna, 2, who were reported missing by their family on Saturday.

Her mother, Kathy Holloway, told authorities that she hasn't heard from or seen her daughter since last Wednesday night when Wix called, upset over an argument she'd had with her live-in boyfriend, William Joseph Benton.

''We just want to hear from her. We wish she would get in contact with us so we would know that she's all right.'' Holloway said.

Wix is very close to her family and is known for staying in constant contact with them.

''This is completely out of character for her not to call anybody in the family,'' said Lisa Robertson, Wix's aunt. ''She calls several times a day and talks to some of us. I knew something was wrong when she didn't call.''

Yesterday Robertson County sheriff's officials were following leads about possible sightings of Wix and her daughter.

So far officials have no evidence of foul play, Lt. Don Bennett said.

Over the weekend sheriff's detectives questioned Benton, Wix's boyfriend, Bennett said.

According to an incident report, Benton, 23, told authorities several stories about the last time he saw his girlfriend.

At first he told authorities that he last saw Wix on Thursday when she left with a friend he didn't know. Then officials say his story changed when he told them that he took Wix and her daughter to an Exxon station and dropped them off at about 9:30 that night.

When asked, he could not recall which Exxon, a sheriff's report said.

His story changed several times more, the report said. He told authorities that Wix left his house at 6681 Owens Chapel Road in a white, four-door Ford Mustang or a white, four-door Chevrolet Camaro.

Benton could not be reached for comment yesterday.

''She tries to be a very caring parent. She could be anywhere because she is so trusting. We are so worried about her,'' said Nick Holloway, Wix's stepfather.

Jennifer Wix's family said she is in the habit of sleeping in and staying up late at night. She has the habit of chewing her nails and is a regular smoker.

She wears glasses sometimes, but mostly only to drive.

She likes to visit Wal-Mart often and has a tribal-designed tattoo on the small of her back.

Anyone with information about the disappearance of Jennifer Wix, 22, of Springfield and her daughter, Adrianna, 2, can contact the Robertson County Sheriff's Department at 615-384-7971.

Still Missing

By: Alex Cabrero

After 3 months, 21-year old Jennifer Wix and her 2-year old Adrianna are still missing.

Its been three months since a Robertson County mother and daughter were last seen.

Saturday, their family held a benefit carnival.

They wanted to try and have fun, while raising some money to keep the searches going.

21-year old Jennifer Wix and her 2-year old daughter Adrianna were last seen in Cross Plains in March.

Ever since, the family has been looking for her.

They say the nights are still the hardest.

"Patrick from Sponge Bob cartoon is my pillow, and Elmo is my teddy," said Wix's mother Cathy Holloway, "and I know that sounds silly for an adult woman, but it just makes me feel close to them, and I still sleep on my couch because I don't want to miss a knock on the door in the night. I don't want to go in the back of the house and go to sleep."

Officially, the Robertson County Sheriffs Office says there are no signs of foul play, but are following up on any leads.

The family has hired a private detective.

Cathy also wanted to get this message out to her daughter,

"Jennifer, if you can hear me, your family supports you in anything that you choose. All we want to know is you're okay, that you and Adrianna are okay. You can call any friend or family member that you wish. It doesn't have to be a certain person. You don't have to say where you are. You are a grown woman. You can be gone and do what you want to do and we all understand that. But if you're able and you can, call us and let us know that you and Adrianna are okay. Please call and let us know. Your family needs to know that. If they know nothing else, they need to know that. Your sisters and grandparents and everybody miss you, loves you, and supports you. And we can get through anything as a family. We always have, we always will."

She waited for five or ten minutes and then got into the backseat of a white four door car. He was very vague in the description of the automobile and said he did not see the person in the car or which direction they went.

He stated that Jennifer returned to his home on Friday afternoon, without Adrianna driving the car she had gotten into the night before for her income tax return that was to be in that day. His parents were not home to give her the money so she left and said she would return on Saturday to get it.

Birthday vigil held by Wix’s family

By Gina Mitchell-Colwell
Times Correspondent

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday marked Jennifer Wix’s 22nd birthday, but her family was not celebrating in the festive manner they had hoped to.

In what should have been a remarkable celebration, Wix’s family was left to present no gifts, but make only birthday wishes instead. Their wish was for Jennifer and

Adrianna to be safe and come home, as has been their hope since March 24.
Friends and family gathered with other community members at Cross Plains Park to celebrate the missing mother’s birthday.

Kathy Holloway, Wix’s mother, tried her best to start off the celebration happily by saying,”We are here to celebrate Jennifer. She would want us to be happy.”

Wix’s family tried to carry-on the best way they knew how. Pictures of Jennifer and little Adrianna lay on a picnic table adorned with a little girl’s birthday tablecloth and flowers. There was a bouquet of balloons and ribbons and handmade signs that gave the birthday wishes of “Love, Peace and Safety.”

“If she were able to be here, she would be,” said Holloway. “She never missed a week before her birthday asking about what I had planned and what I might be buying for her. She would tell me not to buy her clothes because I didn’t know exactly what she’d like.”

Wix’s family spent the night remembering all of the wonderful occasions they spent celebrating with Jennifer rather than reliving the nightmare that had haunted them daily since Wix was reported missing in March. They desperately attempted to have one night of happiness “if only but for a minute.”

Holloway made an impassioned plea to law enforcement to continue searching diligently for her daughter and granddaughter. She pleaded for everyone to “call upon the powers that be in the county and state government to not give up on my babies.”

“Every 40 seconds in this country, someone goes missing, whether it be a child or a legal adult,” said Holloway who was become an advocate for missing persons since her daughter’s disappearance. “Regardless of how old she is or whatever the circumstances are, my daughter and granddaughter are missing and they deserve to be found.”

There has been a website established at ww.missingwixchildren.homestead.com.
If you have any information about Jennifer and/or Adrianna Wix, please call the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department at 384-7971.

Mother of missing woman asks public to help

Cheryl Tatum
Senior Writer
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The family of a missing Robertson County woman made a cry for help from the public yesterday at the White House Police Department.

The last time a family member of Jennifer Wix heard from the 2000 White House High School graduate was Friday, March 26, 2004.

Jennifer, 22, and her 2-year-old daughter, Adrianna, are now among the 1,440 persons nationwide who are listed as missing every day.

In the last five months, Jennifer’s Robertson County family has spent most of their waking hours looking for their missing children, posting flyers, handing out buttons, traveling the back roads of Robertson and Sumner counties and even going as far away as Missouri when rumors had to be checked out.

But, Jennifer’s mother and Adrianna’s grandmother Kathy Casey Holloway, said they can’t continue the search alone — they need help.

“We need to broaden our search. We have done what we can as a family. We need to keep the girls in the media, we need to keep their names and faces out there. We simply need help,” Holloway told a group of about 20 who gathered Sunday.

Helping to organize the meeting was Lynda Uldrich, a friend of Holloway’s when they were in high school together.

Uldrich said the first time she saw Holloway since high school was when she was being interviewed on television about Jennifer and Adrianna’s disappearance.

Since that time she has been one of a group of volunteers trying to help family members cope.

Since Jennifer was listed as missing with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department, Holloway said there have been no leads.

The last time she was seen, according to the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department was on Thursday, March 25 in Cross Plains.

Holloway said she talked to her daughter on that Thursday while she was at the home of her boyfriend and his family.

“She was upset, and I offered to come and get her, but she felt she could handle the situation,” Holloway said.

On Friday, Jennifer talked to both her sister and father also indicating a problem. That was the last time anyone from her family has heard from the young woman.

At the time of her disappearance, Holloway said her impression is that the attitude of many people was that her daughter had just run away, and there was no real reason for concern.

“That’s just out of character for her,” Holloway said. “She spoke to a family member on a daily basis and now no one has heard from her in five months.”

In fact, Holloway said Jennifer is dependent on family members for everything from running errands to being a sounding board.

“You don’t go from being that dependent to being independent with no contact in one day,” her mother said.

What the family is asking for is volunteers to scour Robertson County and a 20-mile radius around Jennifer’s home county and make sure her picture and Adrianna’s are everywhere.

“Our goal is to make Robertson County and the 20-mile radius a big pie and to cut that pie into sections,” said Jennifer’s sister and Adrianna’s aunt, Lisa Robertson.

For each one of those pie sections Robertson wants a team leader with volunteers to talk to their neighbors and post flyers.

“We want to make sure there is a flyer in every window, everywhere that it is legal to post them. We want people who are dedicated to making sure these children do not fall through the cracks,” she said.

“People don’t disappear,” Robertson added. “They don’t vanish. Dead or alive every missing person is somewhere and they deserve to be found.”

Statistics show every 40 seconds someone goes missing, said Shelley Brown, a family friend and the head of the Child Seek Network in this area.

“That’s 1,440 persons a day. And while most are found quickly, some are not,” Brown said.

While the Amber alert has been a godsend when it is used, Brown said the criteria for an Amber alert hurts the search for some missing persons.

“If you don’t meet the criteria, you are simply missing,” Brown said.

Jennifer and Adrianna’s family said they will continue to search for their loved ones — and they hope others will join the effort.

Persons wanting information and contact numbers to help in the search for Jennifer and Adrianna can go to the Web site: http://www.missingwixchildren@homestead.com.

Contributions to help fund the search may be made to the Bank of America, Kathy Casey Holloway Missing Wix Children Fund.

“I’m trying to be a mother, a wife, an employee and a detective. I just can’t do it alone,” Holloway said.

Search Continues For Missing Mom, Child

Posted: 10/7/2004 6:20:00 PM
Updated: 10/7/2004 6:35:06 PM

Six months later, the search continues for a missing Robertson County woman and her 2-year-old daughter.

Robertson County sheriff officials searched the area for Jennifer Wix, 21, and responded to hundreds of leads.

On March 26, Wix and her child disappeared from the Springfield area.

“It’s hard to admit but after six months I feel like foul play could have happened,” said Kathy Holloway, Wix’s mother.

Robertson County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Don Bennett said, “All the evidence in the case we've gathered and all the interviews, which have been hundreds, that we've conducted there is simply no indication that foul play is involved. All indications say Jennifer took her daughter and left on her own free will.”

Detectives said they have not completely ruled out foul play and they continue to investigate the case every day.

Anyone with information in the case should call police at (931) 384-7971.

A message from the family:

Hi Everyone,

Well, Christmas Eve, will be nine long months that Jennifer and Adrianna have been gone. I can't say that things are any better than they were on March 25, 2004 when I first discovered that the girls were missing. It seems that it just gets harder with each passing day. The Holidays are particularly difficult for my entire family. We have but one Christmas Wish and that is, to find Jennifer and Adrianna. It will help our family tremendously for you to join us in a candlelight vigil remembering the girls in this Christmas season. One of the things that is so difficult to deal with is the fear that everyone will just forget about them. I cannot let that happen. Please join me in not only remembering them but praying for an end to this nightmare. They deserve to be remembered as everyone goes about the usual Holiday festivities.

We are having a vigil on Tuesday night, December 14th at 7:00 p.m. at the Owens Chapel Methodist Church, this is across the road from where the girls were last seen and is a fitting place for them to be remembered. I am asking for the gift of your presence, please come if you can and please pass this message along to everyone on your contact list, the public is most definitely invited.

If anyone needs directions please call or write.

Happy Holidays to you and your family, Be Safe

Family, friends pray for a Christmas miracle

by Gina Mitchell-Colwell
Times Correspondent

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adrianna and Jennifer Wix have been missing since March 24, 2004.
Christmas is the most wonderful season of all. It is the season of perpetual hope and miracles and for Jennifer Wix’s family, a Christmas miracle would be the most wonderful gift of all.

Christmas Eve will mark exactly nine months to the day since anyone saw or heard from Jennifer or her little two-year-old daughter, Adrianna.

In hopes of a Christmas miracle, the Wix family, along with other family and friends gathered at the Owens Chapel United Methodist Church last Tuesday night to “pray for a miracle.”

“If God can lead Mary and Joseph safely to Bethlehem for such a miraculous birth, I have to believe that God has the power to lead my girls home,” said Kathy Holloway, Jennifer’s mother, during the candlelight service in the frigid temperatures. “I also have to believe that, if for whatever reason my girls can’t make it safely back home to be with us, God will send us some answers as to where they are and put an end to this nightmare. That is all I want for Christmas.”

The vigil was held just across the street and down from the place where Jennifer was last seen.

“I just felt like I wanted to be as close to her as I possibly and physically could,” Holloway said through tears. “This is the best I can do since this is the last recorded place anybody saw her.”

Jennifer and Adrianna were reportedly last seen Wednesday, March 24. Lt. Don Bennett with the Sheriff’s Office has repeatedly stated that there is no evidence of foul play in the case but that he is following up on any leads that surface.

Bennett is currently looking into a lead involving Jennifer, but he says he cannot verify anything at this point.

“I don’t have enough information yet that I can confirm,” he said Monday.

The group held candles of hope that struggled to stay lit as the freezing wind blew with its icy chill on those who sang and prayed. There were carols sung and even a book that could be signed to tell the family, and Jennifer, how much they were loved.

Personal friends of Jennifer’s family, Faye Partee and Billy Pugh, led the gathering in songs. Although the gathering in the strong north wind was small, it sounded like a group of angels as all who were there prayed with the belief that there is strength in numbers and hoping against hope that their prayers would bring Jennifer and little Adrianna walking straight through the crowd.

There would be no better gift that this family could receive than to know what has happened to the girls.

“I just can’t stand the thoughts of not knowing where they are,” said Holloway. “My biggest fear is that everyone will just forget them, but my girls are still out there somewhere and our family has to have closure to this ordeal. If is not meant for them to come home to us, we at least need to know where they are.”

If you have any information at all that would help to give this family the Christmas miracle they are seeking, please call the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department at 384-7971. There is a $15,000 reward offered for information leading to Jennifer’s and Adrianna’s safe return or location.

A Project Jason Press Release

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You would move Heaven and Earth to find them: A vibrant young mother and her precious daughter whose beaming smiles and sparkling eyes, so full of life, demand your attention. The caption above their photo simply states: MISSING.

They are Jennifer and Adrianna Wix, of Cross Plains, TN, missing since March 24, 2004.

It is not such a simple matter for her family and friends, who are doing everything they can to find her, as their hearts are breaking as they fear for the well-being and safety of Jennifer and Adrianna.

Strangers across the country are helping the family in many ways, and now some of the country’s best natural networkers, truck drivers, are going to help move Heaven and Earth to find the young woman and her daughter by their participation in the 18 Wheel Angels program.

18 Wheel Angels is a national missing person’s locator program spearheaded by nonprofit organization Project Jason. The program enlists the aid of truck drivers and business travelers to place posters of missing persons along their routes as they travel across the country. A different missing person is featured every 2 weeks. Participants are asked to go to the 18 Wheel Angels link on the Project Jason website at Project Jason - Assistance for families of the missing, and to then download and print as many posters as they can place. Anyone can participate.

Jennifer and Adrianna’s campaign began on January 1st and will run through January 15th.

JB Scott Publishing of Anniston, AL, is also helping by publishing Jennifer and Adrianna’s information and photo in the January issue of their publication “Through the Gears”, which can be picked up free of charge at many truck stops nationwide.

A reprint of the page can be seen here:
http://members.cox.net/kelly_project...s/page0027.htm

In addition to the 18 Wheel Angels campaign, Project Jason had added Jennifer and Adrianna to their Adopt a Missing Person program. Their family sent buttons to the organization to have available for people across the country to mail in and request. The compassionate person who adopts the girls will also be mailed an info card, which contains a bio and personal information about Jennifer and Adrianna. Whoever adopts them will wear their button and share their story with others. As awareness is key in missing person’s cases, it is important for their faces to be seen so that they can be found and reunited with their family.

Project Jason was founded by Kelly Jolkowski, mother of missing Omaha, NE youth Jason Jolkowski. The all volunteer group’s mission is to create and increase public awareness of missing people through a variety of outreach and educational activities. Project Jason seeks to bring hope and assistance to families of the missing by providing resources and support.

About the Case:

Jennifer and Adrianna Wix were last seen by Jennifer's boyfriend on Friday, March 26, 2004, in Springfield, TN. Since that date, family and friends have not heard from her. Jennifer had no car, no money and did not take any personal belongings, and is also on medication. There have been no solid leads in the case. There is a $15,000 reward for their safe return.

For additional information about the 18 Wheel Angels or the Adopt a Missing Person program, and Project Jason, please see the website at Project Jason - Assistance for families of the missing, or contact President and Founder, Kelly Jolkowski, at 402-932-0095. Re: Missing Child: ADRIANNA NIKOL WIX

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The latest from the family:

"No news on Jennifer and Adrianna. The NOMEC mailer that went out pretty much nation wide has brought in quiet a few possible sightings, but none that have led to anything positive. Mostly either look alikes or tips that cannot be followed up on.

This past Sunday evening, myself and several family members put a sign up near the location they were last seen. Our hopes are that if anyone in that small community knows anything at all that seeing their faces everyday as they come and go will convince them that they need to do the right thing.

Lamar Advertising has donated a 48' billboard to the girls and it will go up in the next couple of weeks. A heartfelt thank you to the good people at Lamar for their generosity.

We are currently doing a petition locally that at some point I will present to our Governor, District Attorney General and Sheriff Gene Bollinger asking them to ask for assistance from TBI.

Our family is planning a public gathering in Springfield, TN on March 26th to remember Jennifer and Adrianna and to make sure that no one forgets that they are missing and loved and that we will not give up our search for answers. We will have a balloon release and carry signs asking for help from the officials and the public. We will have personal ID kits and hopefully other things happening that day. Anyone that is near to us, please come and join us.

Thank you all for your thoughts and concern for Jennifer and Adrianna and for our family. I have heard from a lot of people that have copied me on letters that they have written Governor Bredesen, thank you so much to you all for your support in my search for my precious girls."

Re: Missing Child: ADRIANNA NIKOL WIX

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Letter from the Family:

Unfortunately I am writing this because Jennifer and Adrianna will be missing for one year on March 25th. This past year has been horrible for myself and my family. I miss Jennifer and Adrianna so much and unfortunately, we have not had any news of their whereabouts or welfare in all this time. We continue to pray for good news as we sadly plan a day to remember and honor Jennifer and Adrianna.

Lamar Advertising has generously contributed a billboard on behalf on Jenn and Adrianna. That billboard went up today on I-65 South, between the Bethel Rd and Millersville/Springfield exits. My sincere thanks go to these wonderful people for such a great contribution. My belief is that someone, somewhere, has information to help lead to the answer to, WHAT HAPPENED TO JENNIFER AND ADRIANNA? My prayer is that this billboard will help in this aspect and to have the girls faces shown to the many that travel the interstate everyday.

We are also making plans to mark Saturday, March 26th as a day to honor Jennifer and Adrianna. We will gather at Stewart Williams Furniture store on Memorial Blvd, in Springfield, TN. We will be there from 11:00 a.m. until........We will have a prayer and balloon release at 2:00 p.m. I would also like to add my heartfelt thank you to the caring people at Stewart Williams for allowing us the use of their facilities to gather. Please try to join us and please notify the community that these plans are in place in honor of Jennifer and Adrianna.

Thanks to all for your help in the past year helping to keep Jennifer and Adrianna foremost in the communities hearts and minds.
