A Project Jason Press Release:

New Age-Progression Photo Released for Randy Spring, Man Missing From Whitewater, California
Search continues for young man missing since 1988, new photo appearing in media brings hope to grieving family

WHIITEWATER, CALIFORNIA - (July 9, 2009) - A new age progression photograph has been released by the family of Randy Spring, a Whitewater, California resident who has been missing for 21 years. Spring was 28 years old when he disappeared. He was last seen on Oct 10, 1988 after being dropped by his mother at Interstate 10 and the Whitewater cutoff. He had his Army back pack containing some food in Tupperware.

Randy said he was going hiking in the San Jacinto Mountains. He was never seen or heard from again. Searches by law enforcement and private sources resulted in no trace found. Randy had survival training in the Army and worked for California Dept. of Forestry. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Bostonia, CA fire dept.

His mother, Arlene Spring, says the new age progression could result in someone recognizing her son, or perhaps someone will realize they have information that could help finally answer the question of what happened to her son Randy.

“It is very possible that someone, somewhere, will see this age progression and will be able to help me find my son,” said Arlene Spring. “This new photo gives us a renewed hope that we can finally get some answers.”ť

“One in six missing persons is found as a result of a visual aid, such as a billboard or a poster,” said Kelly Jolkowski, founder and president of Project Jason, a nonprofit organization that assists families of missing persons. “When someone has been missing long enough that their appearance has changed with age,” continued Jolkowski, “age progression photography is vital to helping law enforcement and the public identify them.”

The new age progression shows what Randy Spring should look like now, in his late 40s. The age progression photography was provided by Phojoe, whose work has been featured on CNN, Fox, ABC, and in the New York Times. Through forensic compositing, Phojoe does age progression/regression to help investigators solve crimes and find missing people. This service is also available for the general public. http://phojoe.com/

Spring is a white male, 5’11” in height and weighing about 180 pounds at the time of his disappearance. He has blonde hair and green eyes.

If anyone has any information on him or his disappearance, they should contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Department at (951) 922-7100
