A special story was written by the family for the 18 Wheel Angels campaign:
Where are you, Steven Krug, our brother and friend? By Christina Weinhammer and Claudia Hockensmith, Steven’s Sisters.
Hello Truck Drivers,
I want to thank all of the Truck Drivers who participate in helping us find our missing loved ones. I pray that you help my family find our missing loved one.
My brother, Steven Krug, traveled from Woodstock, Illinois and came to El Monte, California in February of 2007. He wanted to find a job and start a life in California for himself. He called in about three times a week to say hi to Mom. He also called talked to my sister, and he called me. Then, on February 2, 2007, he called our mother and we have not heard from Steven since that date. He would never stop calling us. It is too out of the ordinary for the phone calls to have stopped all of a sudden.
My husband, our daughter and I, live in California and we went searching for Steven in El Monte and Los Angeles. We went to the Motel 6 at 3429 Peck Road where he was staying, and also traced a phone number to a pay phone at the News Café just down the street from the Motel 6 in El Monte, California. Some of the people we showed Steven’s picture to said they had seen him, but not in the two weeks before we came to El Monte searching for him.
Since that last phone call on February 2, 2007, my sister and I have been searching by all the means that we have to find our brother, Steven.
We checked the homeless shelters just in case he needed help, filed a missing person report at the El Monte Police Station, and drove up and down in Los Angeles and El Monte and suburbs looking for Steven. Today, two years later, I see him in every male that looks anything like him and want to yell out, STEVEN! STEVEN! but I realize that again, no, it’s not him.
Steven is out there somewhere. I feel that he needs our help and his medication. Please help us find him.
Steven was on medication, but we believe that he no longer has access to them and he needs the medication. Steven is a very outgoing person and very helpful to anyone and would not hurt a fly. He talks about everything and enjoys life and always laughed a lot. He is very smart. We will never stop searching for you, Steven! WE LOVE YOU! And now we have more help thanks to the 18 Wheel Angels!
I believe Steven would not be shy to ask you for a ride from you. He might have done that. So if his pictures look even a little like someone you helped, please help us and call in.
I thank God every day that my family found projectjason.org as they have been so much help to us. I pray that Jason Jolkowski, and anyone else that has gone missing be found.
Steven is our little brother, even though he is now 42 years old. His birthday was just last April 29th. My brother was close to all of us, especially our mother. Our mother has Alzheimer’s and still asks for Steven. We need him to come back home to us so that Mom can know he is alright.
Please, please anyone that may have seen Steven, please call Detective Aram Choe of the El Monte Police Department at: Detective Choe’s Desk: (626) 258-8839 or The El Monte, CA Police Station at: (626) 580-2100.
God bless all of you and thank you for all you are doing to help us find our loved ones. Your help is very much needed and appreciated. Thank you!
