A mid-Michigan family will observe Mother's Day this weekend with a heavy heart again. 8 years ago on Mother's Day, a 23-year-old Lansing man went out with a friend and never came home. Family members have never given up hope and police are looking to you for help. Even though it's been 8 years since his brother Derick "Deak" Brown disappeared, his brother, Dan, says it doesn't feel that way.
Dan's brother, Derick, called "Deak" disappeared after going out with a friend the night of May 13th, 2001. He never returned to his Lansing home. Police detectives say they reopened the case, because they received some recent information.
Detective Kim Kranich, Lansing Police Dept.: "We're looking for people who were with him the last few days, knew who he was with."
And that's why they're hoping that anyone with any information, or who knew Deak, will come forward and share what might be a helpful tip. Police shared this photo of Derick and say he's a light-complected white/Hispanic male, with a medium build, 6-2 , 190 pounds with light brown hair and hazel eyes. Any information you have will be appreciated by not only police, but the family as well.
Anyone with knowledge on the disappearance of Derick Noble Brown is urged to call Crimestoppers. That number is (517) 483-stop. The family is offering a reward of $5,000 if the information leads to an arrest and conviction.
