Where is Brad Ross?
10:46 PM EST on Tuesday, January 31, 2006
Louisville -- Vanished without a trace.

The search is on for a Lexington Road business man who was last seen over the weekend.

Now family and friends are worried about Brad Ross and asking the question, "Where is he?"

The Save A Step on Lexington Road is one the places where Brad Ross was last seen.

The 49 year old owner of Cardinal Professional Tree Service is not the kind of person who would just up and go somewhere with out telling anybody.

"He was last talked to by a friend at around 4:47 pm on Saturday," says Sgt. Jeff Roehrs of Metro Police. "He left his work and then went and bought some gas
after that no one has seen or heard from him since then."
"Everybody in this neighborhood knows Brad, he is a neighborhood fixture," says Dave Kastan of Bourbon Brothers B-B-Q. "He would come in and sit at the tables and know everyone in here."

Word of Ross' disappearance began to circulate through the restaurant on Tuesday.

Ross last came by Bourbon Brothers last Friday to deliver kindling and wood for the smoker of barbecue which is one reason why the people here are worried.

"He is from here, he has always lived here. He works here he has a big business he was here once a week, it is bizarre," says Kastan
Ross's truck was found Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of South 35th Street.

His keys were on the front seat.

His family says he has no medical condition that would prompt him to just go somewhere and not tell anybody.
He had tree service jobs set up for early this week that he has not gone to.

"His family says he is a good hard worker and will not miss a job that he had to go to," says Sgt. Roehrs.

The folks at Bourbon Brothers are hoping Brad Ross will be back in here sometime this week and order his typical brisket sandwich.

Ross is described as about 5'11 and 200 pounds and was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Brad Ross, you're urged to call the LMPD crime tipline at 574-LMD (574-5673). You can remain anonymous.

LMPD Still Looking For Missing 49-Year-Old Businessman

Missing Man's Truck Found, No Other Leads

By David McArthur

(LOUISVILLE) -- A Louisville family needs your help to find Brad Ross or at least clues about what happened. The businessman disappeared over the weekend as a WAVE 3 David McArthur reports police are finding few leads.

Handling a busy lunch rush at Bourbon Brothers Smokehouse on Brownsboro Road Friday, owner Dave Kastan was also worried about the customer that's missing. "He would come in here all the time -- he'd come back in the kitchen and I'd get him a sandwich."

Kastan last saw 49-year-old Brad Ross in the store on Friday, Jan. 27th. His family reported his disappearance the next day.

Louisville Metro Police Sgt. Jeff Roehrs told us Ross "supposedly had jobs lined up Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and he didn't show up for any of them, and it's unusual for him to miss his jobs."

From Brownsboro Road to Lexington Road, flyers with his picture, are now posted with the hopes that someone will remember anything they may have seen out of the ordinary the night he disappeared.

Ross was pretty well known in the area, as a client, customer and a friend.

Metro Police expanded the search when his truck turned up in the west end. It was found in the 600 Block of South 35th Street with the keys still inside and no signs of trouble.

The truck was marked with Ross's business name, Cardinal Professional Tree Service. Sgt. Roehrs told us "some people say he was going down there to give estimates. We don't know at this point in time what he was doing down there."

Kastan says Ross seemed normal the last time he spoke with him. "He's just a real nice, real friendly guy. Real outgoing kind of guy, kind of a boisterous personality. He's an all-around great guy. That's why so many are upset about it."

"Somebody out there knows what happened to Mr. Ross," Roehrs said. "You don't have to even leave your name; just call in and let us know what you know."

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Brad Ross, you're urged to call the LMPD crime tipline at 574-LMD (574-5673). You can remain anonymous.

Vigil held for missing man

11:36 PM EST on Saturday, February 25, 2006

Dozens of people gathered at a Louisville vigil Saturday, for a businessman that’s been missing for the last month.

No one has seen 49-year-old Brad Ross since the end of January.

Ross ran a local tree service business.

His vehicle was found abandoned Jan. 31 in the West End.

Friends gathered to try and keep Ross in everyone's minds, and they hope someone will come forward with information.

They gathered on Spring Street, praying for Ross’s safe return.

They met just a few blocks from the last place he was seen, the Citgo gas station at the corner of Lexington and Payne streets.

Friends describe him as the friendliest of men, and can't figure what occurred.

“You heard about things when people just walk off the face of the earth,” said John Durham. “You hear about it, but you don't actually have it happen to you. When it does happen to you and the community, it breaks you up."

The group said, if Ross is not found, it will hold another vigil one week from Saturday, in the 600 block of S. 35th Street, the same place where Ross' car was found.

Anyone with information on the disappearance is encouraged to call 574-LMPD.

Family hires private investigator to find Brad Ross

April 15, 2006  WHAS11 News

The family of a Louisville businessman missing since late January has now hired a private investigator.

Brad Ross' family hopes to determine what happened to him.

So far, there is no explanation into how the 50-year-old vanished almost three months ago.

No one seems to know what happened to Brad Ross.

Ross was reported missing on January 28. His car found in the West End three days later.

That family remains in turmoil now relying on private investigator Tom Condit to pursue information they've uncovered.

"Ross was a 50-year-old man, had a stable situation here in Louisville. Business concerns were good, family relationships were good," said Condit.

Condit says weeks of waiting have the family in anguish, but they're not giving up.

"Obviously [the family] hope for the safe recovery of Mr. Ross. They are aware of all the possibilities," said Condit.

The search crews can only investigate until they discover something.

Anyone who has any information on the whereabouts of Brad Ross should contact metro police.

You can call the anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD.

Family sells missing man's equipment

Tuesday, June 6, 2006

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Four months have passed since Brad Ross's tree-cutting equipment moved off Lexington Road.

Many other things on his property have moved.

"We're still hopeful that Mr. Ross will return, but we certainly don't know."

On January 28, Brad Ross went missing. His car was found in the West End, but his Cardinal Professional Tree Service equipment has sat, ready for use. Barely a hand has touched it.

"They wanted to do this before the equipment deteriorated."

Mike Waltrip of Tritech Auctions says these business assets may be worth up to a quarter million dollars. The auction list includes at least eight trucks in good condition, much tree-cutting equipment and logs and firewood as far as the eye can see.

"Mr. Ross was well known to keep his equipment in excellent condition." Waltrip emphasizes the longer the family waits, the less the value would be. “Most questions are, what's going on with his business, what are they going to do?"

Debbie Lecomt was one of the last people to see Ross -- he pumped gas at her station shortly before disappearing.

"Not knowing, that's the main thing, not knowing what happened to him," she says.

Those who cared for Ross don't know either. They'll continue to hope, and make sure none of his equipment lies around any longer.

The family spokesperson didn't say what this money would go towards.

Homicide detectives took over this case in late April, and around the same time, Ross's family hired a private investigator.

The LMPD is still investigating. If you have any information, call the Metro Police anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD.
