A Eufaula family of three that was looking at land to buy in Latimer County has been missing for nearly two weeks.

Their truck was found in rural Latimer County, at least 30 miles from their home, on Saturday. A starving small black and white dog was found inside the vehicle when a Latimer County Sheriff's deputy went to investigate.

"It appeared it had been in the truck for a long time," Latimer County Undersheriff Matt Bohn said Wednesday.

Police, fire and highway patrol crews, along with several volunteers, began a search Saturday for Bobby and Sherrilynn Jamison and their 6-year-old daughter Madyson. Six dog teams joined the search Sunday, but nothing other than the truck was found, Bohn said.

The Latimer County Sheriff called off the immediate search Monday, but small groups of people familiar with the terrain continued to look for evidence. Another full-scale search is planned for Friday, he said.

Bobby and Sherrilynn Jamison both have brown hair. He is 44 and 6 foot 3 inches, while she is 44 and 5 foot 7 inches. Their daughter has blond hair

Anyone with information should call the Latimer County Sheriff's Office at (918) 465-2161.

Authorities Plan Extensive Search For Missing Eufaula Family

Jamison's pickup truck was found in a rural area of Latimer County near an oil lease.

EUFAULA, OK -- A mother, father and six-year old girl haven't been seen in nearly two weeks and authorities fear the worst.

The family is from Eufaula. Their truck was found near Wilburton last Saturday.

The FBI, OSBI, and a number of state agencies are working on this case, but authorities are worried about the family of three who disappeared in such a tough part of the countryside. Panola Mountain sits in rural Latimer County, covered with trees and surrounded by grasslands.

"It's only 6.5 miles from Red Oak," Sheriff Isreal Beauchamp, Latimer County.

It's where Sheriff Isreal Beauchamp is trying to solve a mystery. He's looking for Bobby Jamison, his wife Sherilynn, and their daughter Madyson. The family was last seen October 9th near Red Oak. They were looking to buy 40 acres of land.

Eight days later their truck was found by hunters. Inside the truck was their small dog, malnourished and in bad shape, according to the sheriff. The dog has since recovered.

Also inside the truck were their IDs, wallets and a substantial amount of cash.

"It didn't look like to me that they got out and walked, it just looked like they got out and that was it. They didn't take their coats, it was kind of cold that day, they didn't take their cell phones, of course they didn't take their dog," said Sheriff Beauchamp.

Sheriff Beauchamp says investigators have looked into the Jamison's past and there doesn't appear to be any signs that they were in trouble or looking to start a new life. He says there's no obvious reason why they disappeared.

For the last several days searchers have tracked through the countryside, but dense trees and hilly terrain have made the search very difficult.

"You know triple canopy, a lot of woods. There are trails, four-wheeler trails, walking trails, game trails but, for the most part, pretty rugged," said Sheriff Beauchamp.

A large search of more than 100 men and women, including horses, a helicopter, and a plane, is scheduled for Friday, but the sheriff is worried about the forecast of rainy weather.

•Bobby Jamison is 44, 6'3", weighs 170 pounds and has brown hair and eyes. He has a back disability and may slouch when he stands.
•Sherilynn Jamison is 40, 5'07", weighs 105 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.
•Madyson Jamison is 6-years-old, has blonde hair and has missing baby teeth in the front of her mouth.

Anyone with information can call the Latimer County Sheriff's Office at 918-465-2161.

Deputies Investigate Disappearance of Eufaula Family

10/21/09 10:21 pm

Eufaula, OK - How does a family disappear without a trace?  Latimer County authorities are trying to answer that question as they wrap up another day of searching for Bobby and Sherrilynn Jameson and their daughter Madyson.

The Jamesons disappeared October 9th.  Their truck was found in Red Oak, about 140 miles south of Tulsa.

Authorities say, the Jameson's were out looking at 40 acres of land near Red Oak.

Deputies found their truck locked and without the keys.  There was also a substantial amount of money in the car, along with coats, shoes, cell  phones, maps and a GPS system.

According to volunteer searcher, Jordan Coffey, the terrain is difficult for anyone.

"Probably a lot of hurt, you know.  Legs hurting, back.  They said that guy had back surgery, so up there he wouldn't be able to get around very far," explains Coffey.

Authorities have called in both the FBI (web) and the OSBI to help with the search for the Jameson's.  They will join 6 cadaver dog teams, planes, helicopters and just under 100 searchers.

The search will resume on Friday on the ground and in the air.

If you have any information about the whereabouts of the Jameson family, please contact the Latimer County Sheriff's Office at 918-465-2161.

FBI Joins Search For Missing Family

Couple, Child Disappeared While Exploring Land Sale
POSTED: 6:30 pm CDT October 22, 2009
UPDATED: 7:09 pm CDT October 22, 2009

OKLAHOMA CITY --
The FBI and state agents are looking for clues in the disappearance of an Oklahoma family that's been missing for two weeks.

Bobby and Sherrilynn Jameson were last seen in Red Oak, looking to buy a 40-acre tract of land with their young daughter, Madyson.

Deputies said they have since found the couple's truck but little else.

"The truck was locked," said Latimer County Sheriff Israel Beauchamp. "The keys were not in it."

Beauchamp said that they found a lot of money, several coats, cell phones, maps and a GPS system inside the abandoned truck.

The wooded area in which they were looking at land is considered rugged, even for experienced hikers.

"They say the guy had back surgery, so up there, he wouldn't be able to get around very far," said volunteer searcher Jordan Coffey.

Investigators said they don't even know if the couple was planning to meet with someone about the property.

Teams of volunteers have been part of a massive search for the Jamesons.

"We had planes and helicopters. We had people on foot, just under 100 people," Beauchamp said.

Officers said the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation will also join the massive search.

Search for Eufaula family picks up to beat dangers of hunting season

October 23, 2009
JOHNNY JOHNSON

RED OAK — The search for a missing Eufaula family is racing the clock with black-powder hunting season beginning on Saturday, Latimer County Undersheriff Matt Bohn said Thursday.

"That will just about make it too risky to be out there searching after that,” Undersheriff Matt Bohn said.

A hunter found the GMC pickup of Bobby and Sherrilynn Jamison and their 6-year-old daughter, Madyson, about 30 miles from their home on Saturday and alerted a nearby landowner, Bohn said.

The landowner then remembered seeing the white pickup with a yellow flashing light on top on Oct. 9 and called the sheriff’s office.

Bohn said Jamison bought a used utility truck, and the yellow light is not connected to his livelihood.

The family’s disappearance is a mystery with rumors and theories circulating, Bohn said, but the sheriff’s office has not ruled out anything.

About 100 searchers this morning will comb through the sometimes unforgiving Panola Mountain area near where the pickup was found, while helicopters and a plane search from above, Bohn said.

"It’s very rugged terrain,” Bohn said.

"There’s timber, rocks, snakes, hogs, mountains and dense underbrush here and there.”

The sheriff’s office is working with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, firefighters, emergency management officials, and search and rescue teams. Untrained volunteers are being asked to stay home, Bohn said.

"We’re only using trained searchers and people who are familiar with the area,” Bohn said.

"We don’t need someone else getting lost or hurt so we have to have two searches going on.”

The sheriff’s office has already conducted searches in the area including some using dogs, but today’s push is going to be a larger, more concentrated effort, Bohn said.

How to help
Anyone with information about the Jamison family’s disappearance is asked to contact the Latimer County Sheriff’s Office at (918) 465-2161.

Massive Search Starts For Missing Eufaula Family

WILBURTON, OK -- A massive search for a missing family of three from Eufaula in rural Latimer County began this morning.

No one has seen or heard from Bobby Jamison, his wife Sherilynn and their six-year-old daughter Madyson since October 9.

Latimer County Sheriff Israel Beauchamp talked with News On 6 reporter Latoya Silmon early Friday morning about today's search plan for the Jamison family.

Latimer County Sheriff's Office investigators found their pickup truck near Panola Mountain on private land eight days later.

Investigators had suspended the search earlier this week, so they could map out a search plan.

At daybreak, search crews will be out on foot looking for the family.  It won't be easy; they're up against a very mountainous area with dense trees.

Concentrated Search For Missing Eufaula Family

October 23, 2009
Robert Neagli

Bobby and Sherilynn Jamison, and daughter Madyson were reported missing Saturday October 17th. The family's pick up truck was located near Panola Mountain by a land owner who then contacted authorities.

Police say the Jamison's were looking to buy land in the area. Sheriff Israel Beauchamp said they are not ruling out foul play. The search effort in Latimer County concentrated on the area where the Jamison's truck was last seen. Planes, helicopters, search dogs and volunteers on horseback gathered to look for the missing Eufaula family.

" We did an extensive search last Sunday, and we have had people out here on and off all week. Then we brought everyone back today, we have national search and rescue here to do one final search." Toye Massey Latimer County Emergency Management Director said.

The Sheriff said the road and weather conditions are getting worse, Friday's search might be the last due to the conditions.

Search For Missing Family Turns Up New Clue

October 23, 2009

RED OAK, Oklahoma -- On Friday, Latimer County investigators found what could be a key piece of evidence in the case of a missing Oklahoma family.

The only sign of Bobby and Sherilynn Jamison and their 6-year-old daughter Madyson was their abandoned truck discovered Oct. 17 near the Panola Mountains.

Inside the Latimer County sheriff's department found money, coats, cell phones and the family's dog.

During a search on Friday, investigators found a pocket knife. Sheriff Israel Beauchamp said pictures of the knife would be shown to the Jamison's family members to determine if it was a knife the couple owned.

Beauchamp said the search for the family would conclude Friday evening and would not resume unless new evidence or leads come into the sheriff's department.

Beauchamp said an FBI agent will remain on the investigation team since a missing child is involved.

LATIMER COUNTY -- Another search of a Green Country mountainside Saturday didn't turn up any new clues in the disappearance of a missing Eufaula family.

Bobby and Sherilynn Jamison and their six-year-old daughter, Madyson, haven't been seen since October 9th.

As investigators continue looking for leads, the family's loved ones are getting more and more worried.

"I hate the fact knowing that we might all end up going to funerals, but if that's God's plan, then that's God's plan," said Charla Heffley, Bob Jamison's cousin.

Volunteers have spent the past two days scouring Panola Mountain in rural Latimer County, where the family's abandoned truck was found.

"A lot of worry, wondering if they're still alive, wondering why they can't find them. I'm just praying to God, to everybody, that they are alive and that they can come back home," said Connie Kokotan, Sherilynn Jamison's mother.

Kokotan says her daughter's family loved the outdoors and the Latimer County sheriff says they were looking to buy 40 acres of land in the area where they disappeared.

Kokotan also says investigators are looking for a man who lived with the family last summer in their Eufaula home.

"Nothing makes sense. I don't even understand why they were up that far, away from their home," said Connie Kokotan.

The sheriff says that part of the county is very dangerous, with rocky terrain and thick trees. It's very easy to get lost.

Kokotan is praying her daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law are simply somewhere else and hopes someone, somewhere, has that crucial bit of information that will solve the mystery.

"I can't understand why this has happened to them and I'm hoping that they can be returned safely home," said Connie Kokotan.

Saturday marked the beginning of the black-powder deer hunting season and the sheriff says that will make it even more dangerous for search crews to look in the mountain.
