Project Jason Appoints Denise Harrison to Board of DirectorsMarch 29, 2010 – OMAHA, NE. – Project Jason, a nonprofit organization that assists families of missing persons, announced that Denise Harrison, a communications specialist with more than 25 years of experience, has been appointed to Project Jason’s Board of Directors.

Harrison has served as Project Jason’s Public Relations Manager for the past two years. She has assisted with strategic program development, has recruited volunteers, and has written website pages, press releases, and other documentation. She founded The Garden for the Missing, an internet site in a 3D virtual world that profiles 200 missing persons cases and spreads awareness for the cause. She has assisted families of the missing with Project Jason resources when contacted via The Garden for the Missing, and she serves as an ambassador at the Project Jason Keys to Healing Retreat.
“We're very pleased to have Denise join us in this capacity,” said Project Jason President and Founder, Kelly Jolkowski. ”She has already proven her dedication to the cause of in her work in the nonprofit community within Second Life, and she has been invaluable in her position with us as PR Manager. Her talents, skills, and devotion to Project Jason in tandem with our all-volunteer staff, will propel us toward the future face of our organization.”
Harrison has a Master’s Degree in Journalism from California State University, Fullerton. Much of her career has been as a communications consultant and feature articles writer. Other positions have included Editor-in-Chief of four technology newsletters, Public Relations Manager and Marketing Manager for technology and public relations firms, and web producer for an entertainment industry website. She has served on several boards, and has been a volunteer for a variety of organizations.
“It’s my honor to support this cause and I am delighted to do so as part of Project Jason,” said Harrison. “I have admired how the Board of Directors are not only able to add valuable, astute opinions for approving, denying, or shaping a project or program, they always choose to go the ethical route in any of these decisions. This, and the fact that the organization is making a tangible difference in the lives of those with missing loved ones, is why I humbly and gladly accept this appointment.”
