Mr. Rabun has been missing for a year.

This is from his website:

On the Road to Remember Tour 2006

On the Road to Remember Tour was created three years ago in an effort to feature COLD cases that have gone unnoticed and forgotten by the public for various reasons. The entire concept of this tour is to bring attention to the missing people never hear about in detail. The tour stopping at rallies provides the families support needed and focuses the attention on the many case in America. It is known that media coverage provides an opportunity to bring forth a new lead, tip, case activity and possible search effort. We are honored to feature our cases in so many states - it is only the tip of the icing concerning the devastating numbers for missing persons. It has always been the belief of the CUE Center - that somewhere - someone - knows something - as we hope our tour "On The Road To Remember" reaches that individual at sometime.

History: The tour originally began as an effort to re trace the route of Leah Roberts who disappeared after a cross country trip from NC and ended with her abandoned vehicle located off the side of Mount Baker in Bellingham, Washington six years ago. CUE volunteers decided to take the route and follow every step and stop she made to obtain any information possible for her case. Sadly, Leah remains missing but because of her, the tour exist today and has helped many families across the nation. This is an annually campaign for the missing.

With loved ones missing, toll wears on families

AMONG THE MISSINGHere are some of the people listed as missing by local authorities:

ROBERT RABUN, 49, reported missing Feb. 17, 2006, Chatham County Sheriff's Office, no leads

Thomasi McDonald, Staff Writer

Robert Scott Rabun has been missing since a friend dropped him off at his apartment in northern Chatham County late on a Friday night in February.

Chatham County deputies have been looking for Rabun ever since. They have combed the surrounding area with cadaver dogs, posted fliers and interviewed neighbors but have not found any sign of him.

Lee Walton Rabun of Alpharetta, Ga., said the disappearance of his 49-year-old brother has taken an emotional toll on his family, who gathered at their parents' Alpharetta home for Thanksgiving.

"Our parents pray every day that he will come back to us," said Lee Rabun, 48. "It's difficult. He's missing, and we don't know what happened."

Rabun is one of at least 50 people listed as missing long-term in the Triangle and the surrounding region. Some have been gone a few months, others for nearly 20 years. Some of the cases have gone cold; in others, police still chase leads.

The Rabuns' experience is typical of what happens when someone disappears. The initial frenzy of attention and sympathy when someone is first reported missing wears off. Police move it into the cold-case files. But family members try to keep their memories and the search alive.

Rabun's younger brother, Clay Rabun, said not knowing is worse than finding out he's no longer alive. "There's absolutely no closure," he said. "Every night we go to bed, he's the last thing we think about before going to sleep and the first thing in the morning."
