Mom still missing after 6 years in Gilbert cold case

GILBERT, Ariz. – It has been six years since anyone has seen Phoenix mom Stacy Ann Aragon.

She was last seen in Gilbert with her boyfriend but where she is now, no one knows or no one is saying.

It’s a cold case Gilbert police refuse to give up on.

Stacy's family has spent the last six years tortured, wondering where she went and why no one has heard from her. The family is convinced Stacy was killed.

“It was just a shock and it's still a shock to know she's still missing,” Nikki Askren, Stacy’s sister-in-law, said.

July 20, 2005, she went out to the store with her boyfriend, Steven Bishop, and neither has been seen since.

In December 2005 one of her vehicles was found in a remote area 10 miles west of Lake Pleasant but there was still no sign of Stacey, Bishop or her truck.

“There's been no activity, no sign of life whatsoever since that day,” Askren said.

Four months before the mother of three vanished, her 10-year-old-son died. Now her sister-in-law, Nikki Askren, pleads with the public for help. “Her sons need to know their mom didn't just walk out and leave them.”

Every year tens of thousands of people go missing and with adults it’s hard because technically they are allowed to walk away from their life but Nikki says, “That was not in Stacy’s nature or character. She would never just walk away from her kids.”

Askren says, “Those missing adults are someone's son, daughter, mother, father brother, sister, niece, nephew and they are still being missed.”

Stacey is missed too but now, more than answers, this family wants closure.

“It's not even a matter of justice anymore we just want to get her home and buried and have a memorial service and a place where her family can grieve,” Askren said.

If you have any information on Stacy Ann Aragon’s whereabouts you are urged to call Gilbert police.

You can also call Silent Witness at 480-948-6377 can choose to remain anonymous.
