Natchitoches, DeSoto tackle two missing person cases
Provencal man is latest person to be reported lost.

February 4, 2006

By Vickie Welborn

DeSoto sheriff's investigators have opened the door to possibility of foul play in the unexplained disappearance of a South Mansfield woman.

Constance Anderson, 19, last was seen the night of Jan. 24. Flyers with her photograph have been posted and circulated throughout the area asking anyone with information to call the sheriff's office.

Meanwhile, Natchitoches sheriff's deputies have a missing person case of their own. Michael Osborn, 38, of Provencal has not been seen since early Tuesday morning, Sheriff Victor Jones Jr. says in a prepared release.

Osborn reportedly approached a residence about a mile from where his vehicle was found in a ditch. The sheriff's release omitted the exact location of the residence. Jones was out of town Friday and unavailable for comment. A spokeswoman for his office said Chief Detective Travis Trammell and others were in a wooded area of the parish Friday afternoon looking for clues in Osborn's disappearance.

In DeSoto, investigators were at first hesitant to say they expected Anderson to be a victim of a crime. They've since changed their minds because her disappearance has been so prolonged.

"Mainly because she's not tried to make contact with anyone," Sgt. Adam Ewing said.

Anderson knew prior to her disappearance that she was in line for a tax refund. "She knew it was a sizable refund. "» And she needed the money because she didn't have any," Ewing said. "She knew when the refund was supposed to be in, but she still hasn't tried to make contact with (the company) or her family."

Veola Anderson, Constance Anderson's mother, verified Friday that the family has not had contact with Constance Anderson since last month. "We've just not heard anything."

Constance Anderson, the mother of a 3-year-old son, is 2½ months pregnant.

"We've got no suspects, no ideas, nothing," Ewing said. "She's never been gone for this length of time before. It's just not making any sense. We don't know why anyone would want to hurt her."

DeSoto investigators seek information on missing Mansfield woman
January 31, 2006
By Vickie Welborn

MANSFIELD -- Veola Anderson was stretched between joy and anxiety Monday. Her happiness stemmed from the birth that morning of another grandchild.

But most of her worry and attention was focused on her youngest daughter, Constance, who's been missing since Jan. 24.

Constance Anderson, 19, the "baby" of Veola Anderson's nine children, reportedly left the residence she shared with her son, her mother and two sisters around 10:30 to 11 p.m. No one saw her leave and no one has seen her since.

DeSoto sheriff's investigators so far do not believe foul play is involved, but they are asking the public to report any information so that the growing concerns of the family can be eased.

"We've got no reason right now to suspect anything criminal has occurred. But she is away from home, can't be located and the circumstances are up in the air. And we've got a concerned family, and rightfully so," DeSoto sheriff's Lt. Toni Morris said.

Veola Anderson said she was asleep in her home on Albert Lewis Way when Constance Anderson left. Constance took her cell phone, but not her purse, billfold or identification. None of her clothes appears to be missing.

"We've been calling and calling her cell phone and she won't answer," Veola Anderson said. "We're just wondering where she's at."

Constance has a 3-year-old son, DeQuendrick Hill Jr., and it's not like her to leave without checking on her son, said Veola Anderson, who is caring for the child. Constance has been away from home before, but always alerts family members to her whereabouts.

"She always calls in to check on her son, but we've not heard a word," Veola Anderson said.

Constance is more than 2 months pregnant. Medication prescribed during a doctor's visit last week also was left at her house.

Veola Anderson is uncertain what her daughter was wearing when she left, but since her black and pink Fila tennis shoes can't be found, she believes Constance had those on. One of her sisters also last saw Constance Anderson wearing a black and white head scarf.

To help
Constance Anderson is a black female, 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 154 pounds. She has an athletic build. Anyone with information on her whereabouts should call Sgt. Adam Ewing or any other investigator with the DeSoto Parish sheriff's office at (318) 872-3956.

Investigation continues on local missing woman
http://www.desotopar....06/missing.asp

Nearly a month after a Mansfield woman disappeared, authorities say they have no fresh leads on her whereabouts.

Constance Jeannette Anderson, 19, has been missing since about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 24.

“It's like she disappeared in flat-out air," said Sgt. Adam Ewing of the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Dept.

Although the Sheriff's Dept. has been actively working the case, Ewing said no solid leads have come to light.

Rumors have abounded about the fate of the woman, ranging from being in a ditch along a road to having run away to the Dallas- Fort Worth area. Ewing said the Sheriff's Department gets telephone calls fairly often, but so far they have been unsubstantiated versions of different versions. He said the department checks out all leads, but so far none have panned out.

The matter is being handled as a missing person case since at this point there is no evidence of foul play.

Ewing said a potential suspect identified by the family had been cleared through use of a polygraph test, and had volunteered to take the test to clear his name.

Anderson is described by authorities as a 19-year-old black female about five feet four inches tall and weighing 154 pounds. The last time she was seen, she had long, black, curly hair.

She left her residence on Albert Louis Way without notifying anyone and no family or concerned friends have received a message from her.

Adding to the difficulty of finding her is that authorities are unsure if she simply ran away, or was abducted.

Anyone knowing her whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at 872-3956 and ask to speak to Ewing.

Missing pregnant woman feared dead

Updated: Jun 2, 2006

She was just 19 years old, the mother of a three-year-old child, and pregnant with another. Constance Anderson is feared dead after being missing for more than four months now. Detectives in DeSoto Parish hope someone has the information they need to solve what's believed to be her murder.

Anderson disappeared the night of January 24 after getting a call at her family's home on Albert Lewis Way in South Mansfield. The case frustrates Detective Adam Ewing.

"I don't see why anyone would want to murder Constance," he said, standing outside the blue frame home the family used to live in. "When she left here, she didn't have any kind of purse."

The family declined to speak with KTBS 3. But they told the detective Constance left the home at about 11 o'clock at night. The detective says her last known contact was with a friend by text message.

"She talked about going to see a friend in a local housing project here. But never arrived, and nor did she say if she was going to go there, how she was going to go there,"
Ewing says.

The family didn't have a car, and Ewing doubts she walked the whole mile-and-a-half distance. It was a cool night and her jacket was left in the house. And she'd complained to her friend about a stomach ache, possibly because she was two-and-a-half months pregnant.

"If she could get rides from people, she would get one," Ewing said of Andersons traveling habits. Gazing down the road, he added, "It would've been fairly easy at that time of night on a weekend to find somebody going back and forth in that direction."

The question he wonders is: did Constance Anderson meet her killer on the way?

Ewing says if someone in the public has good information to help solve Anderson's disappearance, they can remain anonymous and collect a Crimestoppers reward. They should call the DeSoto Parish Sheriffs Office at 872-3956.

Age at time of disappearance: 19 years old
Height and Weight: 5'4 - 5'8, 150 - 160 pounds

Distinguishing Characteristics: African-American female. Black hair, brown eyes. Anderson's ears are pierced. She has an athletic build.

Details of Disappearance

Anderson was last seen between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m. on January 24, 2006 at her residence in the vicinity of the 400 block of Albert Lewis Way in Mansfield, Louisiana. She got a telephone call from an unknown individual and left shortly afterwards. At 1:30 a.m. the next day, she text-messaged a friend and said she was coming over to their residence at a housing project one and a half miles away. She never arrived and has never been heard from again.

Anderson's family doubts she would have attempted to walk the whole distance to her friend's home; it was a cool night and she was feeling ill, possibly as a result of her pregnancy. Her loved ones stated she often accepted rides from people and may have done so on the night of her disappearance. Her family does not believe she left of her own accord. She has left her home before, but always kept her family informed of her whereabouts. Anderson left behind her purse, jacket and other clothing, billfold, medicine and identification; the only thing she took with her was her cellular phone.

Foul play is suspected in Anderson's disappearance; authorities and her family believe she may have been murdered. She has seven siblings and left behind a three-year-old son, who is now in the care of his father. Her case remains unsolved.

Family, friends remember missing South Mansfield woman
By Vickie Welborn •  January 22, 2011

SOUTH MANSFIELD – Two days shy of five years ago, Constance Anderson walked out of the home she shared with her mother, siblings and young son. She took her cell phone and a light jacket but nothing else.

And she’s not been seen since.

The five years have not dimmed the hope of her family, most of whom gathered with friends Saturday night to bring renewed attention to Anderson’s unexplained disappearance and hopefully spark someone with information to step forward.
