So periodically I do searches for him. I've been particularly interested in this for a long time.

I would love updates as they come.

*Is the Deborah that posted this message the same as Reuben's mother, Deborah Blackwell?

Edited to remove citizen lead, which needs to go to LE. KJJ

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

I would like to explain a few things that may aid in understanding.

The majority of these cases are what we call courtesy cases: found on the internet by volunteers and posted. This case is one. We have no contact with the family nor with the LE (Law Enforcement) on the case.

Deborah is a volunteer moderator and has no relationship to this missing person. I am the only moderator with a missing loved one.

As we are not an investigative agency, we do not investigate cases. For the families who do register for services with us, we provide support and awareness.

Any person who thinks they have information about a case, any case, needs to contact the LE agency listed on the post. Please do not post what you discern to be a lead or tip on a website. Get that to LE right away, please.

This forum is for official sources of news and information about missing persons. It is the responsibility of the citizen to get the information to LE in a timely manner. Posting tips and leads here places us in that chain of responsibility.

If you have other questions about the forum, please feel free to post your question on the Question forum.

I hope that you did report that info to LE.

Thank you for understanding.

Clinton boy has been missing since 1996

An age-progressed photo of Reuben Bennett Blackwell shows what he could look like now in his mid-teens. (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children)

Direct-mail cards sent to millions of homes and a segment on CNN Headline News haven't helped authorities find a 3-year-old Clinton boy who went missing in 1996 or the man who allegedly abducted him.

Reuben Bennett Blackwell has been missing since May 1996. He was reportedly taken by his noncustodial father, Reuben Bennett Blackwell Sr., according to police and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Reuben would be 17 now. His father is still wanted on abduction charges in Maryland, court records show. Prince George's County police say no new information has come to light about the case.

The pair disappeared after Blackwell picked up his son from day care, Reuben's mother, Deborah Blackwell, said on a "Nancy Grace" episode in 2006.

The couple was having problems, and Reuben Blackwell Sr. had just been served with a court order requiring him to stay away from the home, Deborah Blackwell told the CNN anchor.

Authorities believe Reuben Blackwell Sr. threatened to harm himself and his son. Deborah Blackwell said on CNN that a relative received a letter from him that described funeral arrangements for the pair a few days after the disappearance.

In 2000, the advertising company Advo featured the Blackwell case on direct-mail cards that were sent to more than 79 million homes, including more than 2 million in the D.C. and Baltimore areas, according to news reports at the time.

Reuben might also go by his middle name, Bennett.

Reuben Blackwell Sr., now 53, is described as a black man who is about 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 260 pounds. He has black hair that is graying and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the case can call the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 800-843-5678.

To the person who mailed us a letter directed to the mother of this missing boy:

This is a courtesy case posted for awareness purposes. We have no contact with the family. Even if we did, we do forward letters of this nature (leads/tips) to family members.

Project Jason is NOT an investigative agency and does not handle leads and tips. Those go to law enforcement only, or in this case can also go to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

We will forward your letter to them.
