FLORIDA HIGHLANDS - Sheriff’s Officer personnel are searching for a couple who have been missing the last few days, the woman longer than the man.

Ada Marie Odell and Raul Sosa, both 50, lived together at 9835 S.W. 152nd Place. The home is gray double-wide, situated off a dirt road surrounded by woods.

According to detective Rhonda Stroup, Sosa called Thursday, July 1, to report that his girlfriend was missing and he thought it odd that she left all her personal belongings behind when she left their home the day before at about 5 p.m.

Sosa then reportedly traveled to the Miami area for the weekend, which was confirmed by relatives.

He was seen on a business surveillance tape late Sunday night, July 4, in Wildwood.

On Sunday, Carla Biess, a friend of Odell, called officials to report that she was missing. At that point, the investigation was elevated from a suspicious incident to a missing person report.

On Monday Moca, Odell’s pet dog Moca was found wandering in Miami with her leash dragging the ground. A retired policeman saw her and took her in. It was discovered that she had a microchip identifying her as Odell’s pet.

A cousin of Odell’s took possession of the dog.

Officials had been not able to contact Sosa, but did speak with his son, who told them he also could not reach his father.

On Wednesday, officials conducted a well being search at the couple’s home. Sosa’s green Ford pickup was parked in front, but he was nowhere to be found.

Sosa is also known to drive a 2008 black Nissan pickup, which has not been found.

Odell did not own a vehicle.

On Thursday, the search team on site included the MSCO helicopter, a K-9 unit and a field force team.

Anyone with information about the missing couple can call Detective Rhonda Stroup at 352-369-6845.

Person Of Interest ID’d In Missing Woman’s Case

Police: Raul Sosa Wanted In Connection With Disappearance Of Ada Marie Odell

POSTED: 6:20 pm EDT July 8, 2010

UPDATED: 7:23 pm EDT July 8, 2010

DUNNELLON, Fla. -- Police in Marion County said on Thursday that Raul Diaz Sosa has been named a person of interest in the disappearance of Ada Marie Odell.

The 50-year-old woman from Dunnellon was last seen on July 1 at her home in the 9800 block of Southwest 152nd Place. Police said Sosa, her boyfriend, reported her missing that day at about 5 p.m.

"We want to make sure she's not injured and lost in the woods," said Marion County Sheriff’s Office Detective Erik Dice.

Detectives said they want to talk to Sosa, 50, because he was reportedly the last to see Odell. They said he was last seen driving Odell's black Nissan pickup truck with Florida tag number 508 KZK.

"We would like to sit down and have a conversation with Mr. Sosa,” Detective Rhonda Stroup said. “He may have details we need to know about Odell's whereabouts.”

Witnesses said Sosa was recently in Miami with Odell's dog, Moca. The dog was found later, miles away from where Sosa was last seen. Moca is OK, police said.

"Mr. Sosa likes to drink, and when he gets drunk, he becomes violent," said Carla Biess, a friend of Odell.

Because Odell's purse, cell phone and other personal items were left behind and relatives said Odell's disappearance is out of character, MCSO detectives said they plan to conduct another search in the area.

The search is planned for Friday near her home in Dunnellon. A start time has yet to be decided.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Odell or Sosa should call Stroup at 352-369-6845.

Boyfriend Of Missing Woman Found, Not Talking

Posted: 5:14 pm EDT July 19, 2010

Updated: 6:12 pm EDT July 19, 2010

DUNNELLON, Fla. -- Deputies say they've located the boyfriend of a missing Marion County woman, but he's not talking to them yet.

Raul Sosa was named a person of interest in the disappearance of Ada Marie Odell. She vanished from Dunnellon on July 1 and neighbors told WFTV deputies have been digging near her house.

It was some freshly turned dirt that raised suspicions in the Florida Highlands community, but deputies told WFTV, after closer inspection, they didn't find anything related to the disappearance of Odell.

Marion County detectives know where to find 50-year-old Raul Sosa, in south Florida, but his girlfriend's location is still a mystery. Sosa reported Odell missing from their in Dunnellon on July 1. This weekend, neighbors told WFTV, the sheriff's office was digging a block from the home trying to uncover clues in Odell's disappearance.

“They seen the freshly dug dirt, and what the guy done is dug a hole, got rid of the stuff, and covered it back up,” neighbor Robert Toms said.

As it turns, out the only thing under the freshly-turned dirt was some old clothing and other trash left behind by a former neighbor of Sosa and Odell. The sheriff's office did not find anything related to Odell's disappearance and, in the nearly three weeks since she was reported missing, there hasn't been a single sighting.

Odell vanished without her cell phone or purse.

“We just pray for a good outcome and hopefully she's OK,” neighbor Daisy Warsaw said.

Investigators still considers Sosa a "person of interest" in the case and the sheriff's office confirmed that Sosa has obtained an attorney.

Now that Sosa has obtained an attorney, deputies really aren't sure when they might get a chance to sit down and talk to him about his girlfriend's disappearance.
