Missing man's dental records sought
BY THOMASI MCDONALD - Staff Writer

WAKE FOREST — Police obtained this week the dental records of a Wake Forest man who has been missing for nearly a year, according to court records made public today.

Investigators on Tuesday obtained from the offices of Gentle Family Dentistry in Wake Forest the dental records of Luis Vargas Montes.

Montes was first reported missing to Wake Forest police on Aug. 16, 2008 by his employer Earl Dillard, according to a search warrant application filed today at the Wake County Clerk of Courts Office.

Montes' girlfriend, Lucina Rios Jardinez, called Dillard after the missing man failed the day before on Aug. 15, to pick up their child from the baby sitter, according to the search warrant application.

Dillard told the police that he last saw Montes on Aug. 15, a Friday, about 5 p.m. as he was leaving work.

Dillard told police he repeatedly called Montes' cell phone starting at 10 p.m. when Jardinez called him, concerned about Montes' whereabouts, court records show.

Jardinez told police that she had not seen the father of her son since Aug. 15 at 6:30 a.m., when he left for work, court records show.

Two days after reporting Montes missing, Dillard called the police and told them he had found the vehicle Montes was driving.

Police found the vehicle with its windows rolled down alongside Six Forks Road, near Falls Lake, K.C. Warren, a Wake Forest police detective, stated in the search warrant application.

Investigators found the keys to the vehicle and Montes cell phone inside, court record show.

On Aug. 21, police, with the assistance of county and state law enforcement, searched the surrounding area and portions of Falls Lake for Montes. They did not find the missing man, Warren stated.

Police are hoping the dental records they obtained can be compared to dental data that is a part the National Crime Information Center's Missing Person File, Warren stated.

Wake Forest investigators will compare Montes' dental records with the NCIC's unidentified persons file, court records show.
