In the early morning hours of July 5, 2000 Curtis Pishon disappeared. The mysterious circumstances surrounding his disappearance have puzzled both police and our family.

We have come to believe that he was murdered during his late night shift as a security guard at Venture Corporation in Seabrook NH. This website is our family's plea for help in finding his remains so that we may have peace, and provide him with a proper burial.

Curt's story
The following is a summary of Curt's case taken from the North American Missing Persons website:

"On July 4th 2000 Curtis a retired police officer arrived at his job as a security guard at Venture Corporation around 9:30 p.m. and parked his car in the parking lot--about eight feet from the guard shack. He chatted briefly with the guard he was relieving--who later told police that Curtis did not appear depressed or upset. Around midnight, Curtis' supervisor checked on him and reported no problems. Then at 2 a.m. Curtis called the Fire Department to report that his car was on fire. The car was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived just a few minutes later. Firefighters told police that Curtis was remarkably calm despite what was happening to his car. The last entry in his guard log was at 2 a.m., when he reported the fire. A few plant workers taking a break saw him at approximately 3:15 a.m. The first person to notice that he was missing was a worker who arrived at the plant at 3:45 a.m. About the same time, a night-shift foreman reported seeing two vehicles racing out of the driveway, but he was unable to give a description of the cars to police. When Curtis' relief arrived the next morning Curtis was nowhere to be found.

If Curtis deliberately disappeared, his family and police are left with the mystery of where he went. There has been no activity on his bank accounts or credit cards. His family does not believe Curtis killed himself. His sister believes that her brother would have wanted his body found and would have left a note if he committed suicide. Moreover, Hampton Police found his pistol in his hotel room still wrapped in the bag that it was in when he bought it from his father."

Investigation renews interest in Curtis Pishon case

SEABROOK — No information on an investigation of the disappearance of Curtis Pishon will be released, according to the attorney general's office, unless there is an arrest in the case.

No arrests had been made by Thursday afternoon, said Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeff Strelzin, chief of the homicide unit in Concord.

Unless an arrest is made, Strelzin said results of the Wednesday, Aug. 15 investigation in Seabrook will not be made public. Asked if the case was considered a homicide, Strelzin said it was a "law enforcement investigation."

"Obviously, this individual has never been found," Strelzin said. "One result is that he is missing due to criminal involvement."

This past July 4 marked the seventh anniversary of Pishon's disappearance.

Pishon, who would be 48, worked for the Reliable Security Guard Agency at Venture Seabrook, a manufacturer of automobile parts.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pound security guard went to work at 11 p.m. on July 4, 2000. He was last seen by a supervisor around 3:15 a.m. By the time Pishon's relief reported for duty between 4 and 6 a.m., he had disappeared.

The case has remained opened, with little new information released by authorities.

On Aug. 15, Seabrook, N.H. State Police and the K-9 unit and Connecticut State Police went to Veterans Memorial Field off South Main Street in Seabrook to follow leads in an investigation later confirmed to be related to Pishon's disappearance.

Police are not saying what, if anything, was found at the ballfield or the nature of their leads.

"What they're doing is following up on an old case," N.H. State Police Field Area Commander Mike Hambrook said last week. "Seabrook and state police received information they wanted to follow up on. We have some new leads, the investigation is still ongoing. It's still a missing person's case and is still being taken seriously."

Hambrook declined to elaborate on why Connecticut police were involved.

Seabrook Sgt. Mike Gallagher confirmed this week police had received information from "a few sources." But, police are not commenting on whether there is a suspect in the case.

Seabrook police, the N.H. State Police Major Crimes Unit and the New Hampshire attorney general's office are involved in the investigation.

Pishon's parents, Astrid and Nicholas Pishon, who live in Hopkinton, recently said they live with "a constant heartache" seven years after their son disappeared.

Nicholas Pishon said this week he was not informed of the new leads regarding his son's disappearance.

"We hope they'll be able to bring this to a successful conclusion," he said.

Seven years ago, Seabrook police searched Venture and found only a vandalized vending machine and a kicked-in door. Inside the guard shack were Pishon's personal belongings: His lunch, contact lens case and solution, cigarettes and lighter.

But there were no clues as to what happened to Pishon, a former Army soldier and 10-year Concord Police Department officer whose diagnosis of multiple sclerosis ended that career in 1994.

SEABROOK — Seabrook police confirmed yesterday they believe the July 5, 2000, disappearance of Venture Co. security guard Curt Pishon was due to "foul play," and that Pishon was most likely killed.

According to Seabrook Detective Sgt. Michael Gallagher, leads coming into the department point to "persons of interest" he believes killed the 41-year-old man after he stumbled across criminal activity during his shift at Venture in the early morning hours on that day.

"We have information in the form of anonymous tips," Gallagher said. "We've gotten enough information to piece together what we think happened that night. Now we need people with direct information to come forward with a statement that can give us probable cause to get the dangerous people responsible for Curt's death off the streets of Seabrook."

Gallagher said three suspicious incidents took place at Venture on the morning Pishon disappeared, which he believes were related to Pishon's disappearance. First, Gallagher said, Pishon's car was set on fire, then there was an attempt to break in and steal the money in vending machines at the plant, and finally, the padlocked door of a union office was kicked in.

Seabrook detectives will be re-interviewing everyone who was at Venture Co. during Pishon's last shift, Gallagher said.

"Not all employees who were working at Venture that night have been ruled out as suspects," he said.

Gallagher said rumors Pishon's car was set ablaze by employees at Venture who hated him have been ruled out. Those rumors and another, saying Pishon set his car on fire himself for the insurance money, may have been spread as red herrings by those who may be criminally involved in the case, to lead police in wrong directions.

"Pishon wasn't hated," Gallagher said. "That isn't the reason we think his car was torched. His diploma from the Police Academy was in the trunk of his car. He wouldn't have burned that."

Also ruled out, Gallagher said, is the idea that Pishon — a 10-year veteran of the Concord Police Department — fell into a retention pond on the Venture site because he suffered from multiple sclerosis. Although Pishon had some trouble walking, Gallagher said, that theory hasn't held up during the investigation.

Nor, Gallagher said, do police believe Pishon was despondent and killed himself. The lack of a body and suicide note were not present to bear out that theory.

Gallagher thinks Pishon's car may have been torched for a totally different reason. According to what Gallagher has been able to "piece together," during his shift, Pishon's car may have been torched to divert attention from a planned crime. However, Gallagher said, he believes Pishon "stumbled upon" that crime while it was taking place, and was killed by those he caught in the act.

After killing Pishon — either accidentally or purposely — Gallagher believes those involved removed his body from Venture and buried it in a rural area somewhere east of Concord, N.H.

"The people responsible for this crime are still in this community, and they are still a danger to those who live in this town," Gallagher said. "Those with evidence need to come forward. It's their moral duty. (The Pishon) family needs to be able to bury their loved one."

In the past month, Pishon's family began a renewed campaign to "find Curt," hoping people with evidence will come forward. Information can be offered at www.findcurt.com, Gallagher said.

"Police are not monitoring the information left on the site the family has created to find Curt and bring him home," Gallagher said. "Or, people can call the Seabrook Police Department at 603-474-5200 or use our anonymous Crime Line at 603-474-2640."

There is a $6,000 reward that will go to the person or persons who come forward with information that leads to the conviction of the people who are responsible for the disappearance of Curt Pishon.

Charges reduced in threatening case

SEABROOK — The Seabrook man accused of threatening to kill a local family over an unpaid debt had his charges reduced to misdemeanor level and may now face trial at Hampton District Court in Seabrook.

Robert E. April, 40, of 6 Janvrin Drive, was arraigned two weeks ago on charges of threatening to kill a 17-year-old boy and his family because the boy's brother owed April $30. Originally charged with felony level charges, police reduced the charges to a misdemeanor because of legal issues, Seabrook police Lt. Michael Gallagher said recently.

"The crime as described by the witnesses didn't fit all the elements of felony criminal threatening as required by state law," Gallagher said yesterday.

April has been out on $1,000 cash and $4,000 personal recognizance bail for about a week. Unless he violates his bail conditions, he will remain out of jail until his trial.

Although arrested on criminal threatening charges recently, it was comments April allegedly made to the 17-year-old victim about his involvement in the 8-year-old Curt Pishon missing person case that drew swift attention from police.

According to the Oct. 14, 2008, criminal threatening arrest affidavit filed by Seabrook Officer Mark Richardson and Officer Frank Brown, April approached his 17-year-old victim about 6:30 p.m. that evening and said: "When I see your brother boy, I'm gonna slice his throat and nobody will find his body just like the missing person from Seabrook, ya that's right I (expletive) killed him and your brother is next and nobody will find ... an ounce of blood. I buried him in my yard, and your brother's next."

April has been a person of interest in the 8-year-old disappearance case of Curt Pishon for some time, Gallagher said. April's alleged admission to killing Pishon two weeks ago, however, gave police a new lead on the case, Gallagher said.

Yesterday, Gallagher said Seabrook investigators are looking closely at the new information, trying to obtain a search warrant. The investigation into Pishon's disappearance was renewed within past months and is still ongoing, Gallagher said.

Gallagher said there is more than one person of interest in the Pishon case.

In July, police and the Pishon's family launched a new initiative in that case to try to find Pishon's body for family burial. The new campaign to find Pishon includes a $6,000 reward for anyone coming forward with information leading to the conviction of those responsible for his disappearance.

Pishon, 41, a security guard at the former Seabrook-based Venture Corp., disappeared during the early morning hours of his shift on July 5, 2000. Gallagher confirmed earlier this year leads point to Pishon being killed by "persons of interest," after Pishon stumbled across criminal activity during his shift at Venture.

SEABROOK, N.H. — New Hampshire authorities are continuing the search for a security guard who went missing from his guard booth almost 10 years ago.

The family of Curtis Pishon tells the Concord Monitor state officials dug up the slab of a Seabrook home on Tuesday searching for clues into Pishon’s disappearance from the now-defunct Venture Corp. manufacturing plant in Seabrook on July 5, 2000.

Senior Assistant Attorney General Will Delker says crews are expected to return to the area on Tuesday.

Pishon’s brother, Nicholas Pishon, says the family believes Curtis was murdered.

Curtis Pishon was 40 when he disappeared. He served as a Concord police officer for a decade before retiring because of health problems.

Missing man search: Police dig up backyard

SEABROOK, N.H. — Authorities continued to dig up the backyard of a Seabrook home Tuesday afternoon in a search for the body of a security guard who disappeared a decade ago, reports Seacoastonline.

The family of Curtis Pishon was notified Monday that there was a new lead in the case, which led police to a home at 128 South Main St. But the family said they have yet to hear from authorities if the two-day search yielded any results.

"The police called us Monday to let us know they were going to dig this place up, but that is all we have heard," said Nicholas Pishon, father of Curtis. "But we have been here before, only to have our hopes dashed."

Seabrook police prosecutor Scott Mendes would not comment on the case.

Seabrook dig turns up no sign of body

SEABROOK – After a two-day search, police are not any closer to locating the body of a security guard who has been missing for almost a decade.

Curtis Pishon would turn 50 this year.

Pishon has been missing since 2000 and his family has long held the belief that he was murdered.

Police agree, but have not been able to prove it.

Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeffery Strelzin said state and local police conducted a two-day search on the property of a South Main Street residence, but turned up nothing. Pishon family members said officials dug up the slab of a Seabrook home.

In August 2007, police conducted a search at Veterans Memorial Park, also located on South Main Street, and also turned up nothing.

"Obviously we are hopeful about it but we have been in this position before," Crystle Pishon, Curtis Pishon's sister, said yesterday afternoon. "We are very hopeful but are going to sit back and see what happens. We don't want to get too excited about it."

The cold case has been especially frustrating for Seabrook Lt. Mike Gallagher, who picked it up as a detective sergeant between 2004 and 2005.

He said information has come into the department that specifies who committed the murder and how it happened, but said there is not enough probable cause to garner search or arrest warrants.

Gallagher said although there are more than one persons of interest in the case, resident Robert April, 41, is the main one.

April, of 6 Janvrin Drive in Seabrook, has been a person of interest in the case since 2005, Gallagher said.

April worked at Venture Corporation, where Pishon was a security guard before his disappearance.

In October 2008, April was charged with criminal threatening and simple assault.

A witness in the case said April told him that he killed the missing person from Seabrook.

"(When) I see your brother boy I'm gonna slice his throat and nobody will find his body just like the missing person from Seabrook, ya that's right I (expletive) killed him and your brother is next and nobody will find hind [sic] an ounce of blood. I buried him in my yard amd [sic] your brother's next," April told the witness, according to the supporting affidavit for the arrest.

April was found not guilty of the charges in February 2009. Gallagher said the witness changed his testimony at trial.

"It is really, really frustrating. Seabrook has a code of silence and there are people out there who have the information we need to make an arrest and find his (Pishon's) remains," Gallagher said. "Most of the information we get is second- or third-hand and not enough for probable cause to get a search warrant."

Gallagher said there is also a fear of the person or persons responsible for Pishon's disappearance.

He said he has had many conversations with April over the years, but he has not provided any information helpful to the case. Gallagher said that at one time, April refused to take a polygraph test as requested by the department.

Police would not comment on whether April had any specific connections to the property searched on South Main Street this week.

"What we really want now as a family is to get his remains and have a proper burial," Crystle Pishon said. "Even though we know intellectually, it is a very hard thing. Being able to go through the grieving process properly will help us a lot."

Curtis Pishon served as a Concord police officer for 10 years before receiving a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis that impacted his ability to act as a police officer.

Pishon worked as a security guard at Venture Corporation, but otherwise kept largely to himself, his family has said.

Pishon had expressed to his family that he was uneasy at the job in the days before his disappearance. He told them he had an altercation with an employee over a parking ticket he issued and suspected illegal activities were going on in the parking lot.

At 2 a.m. on July 4, 2000, fire crews responded to Venture for a report of a car on fire. Pishon's car was engulfed in flames, but those on the scene say he remained calm about it.

Less than two hours later, he was missing.

The family launched a Web site in 2008 called FindCurt.com to try to gain any information about the case. They also offered a reward for information leading to the return of Pishon's remains.

Sad anniversary for missing man's family

Every Fourth of July for the last 11 years, the Pishon family has come forward with the same plea looking for any information regarding the disappearance of their son and brother, a security guard and former Concord police officer who went missing on July 5, 2000, in Seabrook and was never seen again.

Even though Curtis Pishon is technically still listed as missing by the Seabrook Police Department, because of tips they've received over the years, his family and police officers who worked the case, believe he was murdered.

They even have an idea about who was responsible, but without probable cause and tipsters willing to go on the record, no arrests can be made.

"I would love for one day to see a resolution," said Pishon's father, Nicholas Pishon.
