HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Asia Nicole Martin was a typical 19-year-old. A graduate from Petal High School, ;looking forward to a bright future.
Her father, Glenn Carter, who lives in Louisiana, describes her as a beautiful young lady.
"She was an out going person, young girl, ambitious," he said.
Asia was attending Pearl River Community College. Her mom was from Petal, but moved to Colorado.
"She had taken some time off to got to Denver to help her mom who was sick," he said.
Her dad said she returned to the region when her mom got well. Carter said Asia's mom was planning on moving back to the Pine Belt and that Asia was going to help her.
"Her mom sent her money for a bus ticket that Asia purchased, but never used," he said.
May 27th, 2005 was the last time anyone from her family heard from her. A few days later, she was reported missing.
Lt. Branden McLemore said the Hattiesburg Police Department has tried solving this case for over eight years. But their efforts have met with a dead end.
"The case has been passed down over there years and there was no where else to turn, there were no other avenues," McLemore said. "We do know that on that particular bus she was not on it. "It was also proven that she never left Hattiesburg."
Asia's mom passed away two years ago .The rest of her family wants answers.
"I have fear that the worst has happened," said Carter.
"The just want to know where she is, and if she's okay, and if not what happened," McLemore said.
"We need closure ," said Asia's dad.
Even though its been eight years, Lt. McLemore is still hopeful he can find closure Asia's family.
"We don't ever give up until the story is closed," said McLemore.
Anyone with information can call Metro Crime Stoppers in Hattiesburg at (601) 582-STOP or Detective Sgt. Terrell Carson at (601) 544-7900.
