Lisa Irwin Missing: 10-Month-Old Abducted From Crib

A frantic search is underway for an infant reportedly abducted from her crib in a Kansas City, Mo., home late Monday night.

Ten-month-old Lisa Irwin was last seen by her mother, who laid her down to sleep at 10:30 p.m. The child was discovered missing by her father at 4 a.m. when he returned home from work. The parents immediately called police.

An Amber Alert has been issued for the child and authorities are canvassing the suburban Kansas City neighborhood and nearby wooded areas.

Amber Alert: Massive Search for Missing Kansas City Infant

At least 100 Kansas City police officers, in additon to FBI agents, are searching for Lisa Irwin, a missing 10-month-old infant police believed to have been abducted from her crib late last night in Missouri. The massive search also includes canines, mounted patrol, a fugitive unit, and a narcotics and vice unit.

"At this point, we've exhausted everything we can at the original scene," Officer Steve Young said in a news conference this afternoon. "We've opened up the crime scene and just broadened it and are doing everything we can."

Police respond to alleged sighting

St. Joseph police have been notified of a couple traveling with a baby who looked similar to missing 10-month-old Lisa Irwin.

Officials said an infant matching her description was seen Wednesday with a middle-aged white male and white female in an older model SUV at the Love’s Travel Stop at the intersection of Interstate 29 and U.S. Highway 169. Their direction of travel was not known.

Cmdr. Jim Connors, head of the St. Joseph Police Department’s detective division, said officials have contacted Kansas City Police, who have requested a copy of the store’s surveillance video.

Desperate for a lead as baffled investigators struggle, the distraught Missouri parents of missing 10-month-old Lisa Irwin have been wracking their brains to make lists of possible suspects for police.

Parents Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin have been thinking about all of the people they cross paths with on a daily basis -- every grocer, utility worker who may have been in the house, former friend, classmate, neighbor or acquaintances who may have wanted a child.

They are trying to remember if anyone every took particular interest in their little girl who was last seen by Bradley on Monday night when she put Lisa to bed at the family's Kansas City home. So far, police have no hard leads and no suspects.

Missing Baby Lisa: Parents Stop Cooperating After Making Lists of Possible Suspects

The parents of 10-month-old Lisa Irwin, missing since Monday, have stopped cooperating with authorities, according to police.

"The mother and father no longer want to talk to detectives," Kansas City, Mo., police Capt. Steve Young said. "From an investigative standpoint, we enjoyed their cooperation so far. [It] has been very beneficial to the case. But yeah, you can imagine it doesn't help the case" that the cooperation has ended.

FBI: Search for Mo. Baby Leads to Kan. Landfill

FBI agents searched a Kansas landfill on Friday in connection with the disappearance of a 10-month-old Missouri girl, just hours after the child's mother said police accused her of being involved.

Agents and Kansas City police spent about two hours at the Deffenbaugh Industries landfill in the suburb of Shawnee, FBI spokeswoman Bridget Patton said. She wouldn't discuss details but confirmed the activity was related to the search for Lisa Irwin, whose parents said was snatched from her crib in the middle of the night.

Patton said it was the second time the FBI had been at the landfill, which investigators also searched Tuesday — the same day the baby was reported missing — and it wasn't uncommon to search an area several times.

Missing Baby Lisa: Teen Questioned as Police Look Into California Tip

Authorities are looking into two new leads today in the case of a missing 10-month-old Missouri baby.

Lisa Irwin has been missing from her Kansas City home since Monday night.

On Friday, a teenage neighbor of Lisa's parents was questioned by investigators and forensic experts took a DNA sample, a source told ABC News. That neighbor was apparently at the home the day Lisa vanished and also knew the access code to the family's garage.

However, police said they still have no suspects.

Investigators are also looking into reports from the west coast, where a couple was seen with a small child fitting Lisa's description, relative Mike Lerette told ABC affiliate KMBC-TV.

"They're pursuing surveillance tape on a couple with the baby in California," said Lerette.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- FBI agents have been using metal detectors outside the home of a 10-month-old Missouri girl who disappeared earlier this week.

Kansas City police Capt. Steve Young says federal agents have been running metal detector wands around the family's yard Friday. He said the search wasn't prompted by a tip, but was being done as part of a thorough sweep of the house where the baby, Lisa Irwin, was last reported seen late Monday.

Authorities scour neighborhood for missing Missouri baby

Kansas City, Missouri (CNN) -- A frantic search for a missing 10-month-old Missouri girl left investigators scouring a Kansas City neighborhood Saturday, a day after searching a nearby creek and landfill.

Federal authorities joined police in the search effort this week, speaking with neighbors and sweeping the area with metal detectors in an expanded search for Lisa Irwin.

Michael Lerette, a family spokesman for the parents of the missing infant, said police collected what could be forensic evidence in the case, but authorities have declined to comment on that claim.

The search, meanwhile, remains clouded by what Kansas City police Capt. Steve Young said was the missing girl's parents' decision to stop cooperating with detectives.

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Decades of statistics on infant abductions in the U.S. suggest one of the least likely scenarios in this week's disappearance of a Kansas City baby is that a stranger broke into her home and took the child as her family slept.

But the numbers also lead national experts to believe that if 10-month-old Lisa Irwin were snatched from her crib in the middle of the night, as her parents told investigators, she is likely still alive.

Strangers who kidnap infants or young children, though rare, often do so because they want a child of their own, not because they intend to hurt or kill the child, said David Finkelhor, director of the Crimes Against Children Research Center at the University of New Hampshire.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police say the parents of a missing 10-month-old Kansas City girl are meeting with detectives, two days after investigators said the couple had stopped cooperating.

Police spokesman Capt. Steve Young says the parents of Lisa Irwin sat down with investigators Saturday afternoon. He declined to say what was discussed.

The couple reported their daughter missing Tuesday, saying she was snatched from her crib sometime overnight.

Communication between the girl's parents and police became strained late Thursday, when police said the parents had stopped cooperating.

A missing child is a parent's worst nightmare.  That's why Kansas City mom Amber Adams had a Child ID made for her two-year-old son Keith Ryan.

"It's not something I want to happen to my child, but it's something that needs to be done in order to protect him," said Adams.

Through MOCHIP, or Missouri Children's Identification and Protection Program, kids have their fingerprints, dental impressions, DNA, physical description and photograph stored on a DVD.  Parents then keep that information in a safe place in the case of an emergency.   

"It's the most important thing for you to do for your children and yourself and your own peace of mind," said Adams.

Missing Baby Lisa: Parents Talk to Police, Reward Fund Set Up

A reward fund is being set up in hopes of generating new leads in the disppearance of 10-month-old Lisa Irwin while her parents are cooperating again with investigators, officials said.

Kansas City, Mo., police captain Steve Young announced Saturday that Lisa's parents Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley, are now talking to police.

"They're talking with us and that is absolutely the best thing," Young said.

Young said the parents are important because no one knows more about the case.

"Something may jog their memory, you never know. They may think of another person or whatever. Their involvement in this investigation is critical," Young said.

Call for help in missing baby case moves to Kansas Speedway

Ashley Irwin, sister of Lisa’s father Jeremy, said she and a group of friends distributed thousands of flyers with pictures of the missing girl and sold T-shirts to raise money for a reward.

Irwin said they chose the Speedway because it attracts 100,000 fans and “people from all over the country.” She said they felt it was a worthwhile effort on a day when police reported no new progress in the search for the little girl.

Police spokesman Steve Young said detectives were again at the family home for several hours today, “just trying anything they can to figure out what happened.”

Police in Kansas City investigating the disappearance of baby Lisa Irwin say that a backpack reportedly containing used diapers and baby wipes was found in the area of a vacant home near the Irwin residence,  fox4kc.com reports.

Kansas City Missouri Police say that a man found the backpack containing diapers and baby wipes near the vacant home in the 3900 block of Chouteau Trafficway on Saturday. Diapers were also found in a wooded area across the street from the house.

According to at least one report, the diapers were soiled.

Kansas City, MO— Kansas City, MISSOURI - Kansas City, Missouri police arrested a local handyman they have wanted to question in connection with the disappearance of missing baby Lisa Irwin.

Authorities say a man known as -Jersey- is in custody on unrelated charges.

Local Police also said they wanted to question the man about the Irwin case because he was known to frequent the area but he is not a suspect.

On Saturday evening, balloons were released in honor of baby Lisa Irwin.

Mo. National Guard to help search for missing baby

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is sending members of the National Guard to Kansas City to help search for a missing baby.

Nixon said Saturday that 25 members of a guard police company will help look for Lisa Irwin, who was 10 months old when she was reported missing Oct. 4. Her parents say she disappeared from her crib sometime overnight.

Also Saturday, police searched an abandoned home after receiving a call about diapers and a backpack inside. But investigators say the items appear to have been in the house far longer than two weeks and likely wouldn't offer any evidence.

Tacopina's roster of clients includes Joran van der Sloot's Aruba trial in the disappearance of Natalee Halloway, Michael Jackson in his molestation trial, and the New York police officer acquitted of charges of raping an intoxicated woman, among many others notable cases. It is unclear who has retained him or who is paying for his service.

Tacopina defended Lisa's parents Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin at a Kansas City news conference today, and maintaining that they were not involved in the disappearance of their daughter.

They also maintain Deborah Bradley had nothing to do with the baby's disappearance.

KC police want more from parents of missing baby

KANSAS CITY, Mo (AP) Kansas City police said Tuesday that the parents of a missing baby have not sat down face-to-face with investigators since October 8, four days after the couple said someone must have entered their home and taken their baby as the mom and two other children slept.

It's been 10 days since the couple have answered police questions on "things that we believe only they would know about," Kansas City police spokesman Steve Young said.

The child's mother, Deborah Bradley, has given television interviews since then, including at least two in which she said she had been drinking the night Lisa disappeared and may have blacked out.

"Our focus has always been and remains to find this girl," Young said.

But the search, police said, yielded no clues to the disappearance of 10-month-old Lisa Irwin, whose parents say vanished from her crib early on Oct. 4.

The information that sparked the search of the area was a lead that didn't pan out, police said. They did not elaborate.

Missing Baby Lisa: 17-Hour Search at Family Home

Investigators in white hazmat suits carried out several large brown paper bags of evidence and a large carpet from the Kansas City, Mo., home of missing 11-month-old baby Lisa Irwin.

The 17-hour search allowed for glimpses into the types of evidence collected and the tight-lipped investigation's techniques.

This was the first search in the case that was conducted without the consent of Baby Lisa's parents, Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin. Investigators obtained a search warrant from a judge.

Cadaver Dog Detects Scent of Human Body in Missing Lisa Irwin's Home, Affidavit Says

An FBI cadaver dog searching the home of a missing Missouri baby has detected the scent of a human body, according to a police affidavit, which noted that investigators discovered soil in the backyard that had been "recently disturbed or overturned."

The document, obtained by Fox News' "Justice with Judge Jeanine," says the cadaver dog indicated a reaction to the scent of a dead person inside the parents' bedroom.

Police filed the affidavit to support a search warrant request for the home of Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin, who reported 10-month-old Lisa Lisa missing on Oct. 4.

The affidavit says the dog was taken into the house Monday and indicated a "hit" on the floor of Bradley's bedroom.
