Hello,

For those of you who help with posting, here are a few tips:

Be sure to read the case and news story posting guidelines, which contain a template for information we look for in a post.

If you post a news story, always post the link and the date the story was published.

Spacing is important. Edit your post if paragraphs and headings run together and/or are not separated by a line. It's easier on the eyes.

Photos are a MUST. There are simply just too many missing persons to look without a photo.

Our goal is not to post every single missing person story. There are simply too many and we operate on a tiny budget. We also function with volunteer only staff and do not have the capability to follow up on that many stories.

Check NCMEC or NamUs for a profile and prinatable poster and add that information. When using NCMEC info, use the info from the poster, which contains LE contact info. We never use the term "runaway" in our posts, so please don't add the case status.

Please remember that this is not a sleuthing or investigative forum. If you post something, it must be from an official source, such as media or LE, and be verifiable through the internet.

Thank you for caring about the missing!

Staff, feel free to add other tips.

If you have seen any of our missing persons, please call the law enforcement agency listed on the post. All missing persons are loved by someone, and their families deserve to find the answers they seek in regards to the disappearance.

Be sure to add the area code on the LE contact phone number. Often, the media don't include it. It just takes a moment to look it up on Google and add it in. There could be callers with tips from other states and they may not know the area code. Thanks.

Also, always add the date the story was posted. This is helpful in case research, etc.

More tips:

If there are multiple stories on the same subject, such as a candlelight vigil or search, it is not neccesary to post all the stories. Pick the two with the best content.

Always check to make sure the story you are posting was not already posted on the thread.

If you decide to post a new case or a new story on an possible existing case, search the site to make sure it is not already posted. There is only one thread per missing person.

If a media outlet posts any peronal family member contact information, such as phone numbers or email addresses, do not include that in your post. Per our policies, only LE contact information may be listed. (or other approved and qualified organizations)

Thank you!
