Newport, Ark. — Authorities continue to search for 29-year-old Josh Cavilee, who has been missing since September 19.

Members of the Jackson County Sherriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies have scoured the Black River and its banks from Lockhart Landing to near Jacksonport hoping to find the missing man.

Investigator Ricky Morales said the department has spent countless hours searching for Cavilee and has used boats, all-terrain vehicles, divers and specially-trained dogs while trying to locate him.

Police have also searched the location by air for Cavilee, Morales said.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officers were still searching the river by boat yesterday, according to Morales.

Police have also interviewed the last three people known to have seen Cavilee before his mysterious disappearance.  Michael Long, Tim Sales and Joe McComb were at Lockhart Landing with Cavilee before he vanished.

If anybody has information concerning Cavilee’s whereabouts, they should contact the Sheriff’s Department immediately by calling (870) 523-5842.

A candlelight vigil for Cavilee was held last Sunday night at Lockwood Park, and another one is planned to be held Sunday, October 10 from 7 p.m. until 7:30 at Walter Rainey Park in McCrory.
