Omaha Police Department's Safety Expo

Saturday, May 7  10:00am - 3:00pm
Westroads Mall, Omaha, NE

This is a free, family-oriented event that will give the public a fun-filled day of learning all about different types of safety. The event offers free child identification kits, free bike helmets (ages 5-12 accompanied by an adult) face painting, games, clowns, cookie decorating, impaired driving simulator and much more. These events will held on the second floor in starting in the wing outside of Dick's.

A few of the topics that will be covered are:

Water Safety
Railroad Crossing
Hunting Safety
Bike Safety
Electricity Safety
Animal Safety
Fire Safety
Crime Prevention
Preparedness Information
Neighborhood/Business Safety
Seatbelt and Rollover Demonstrations

Outside in the northeast parking lot will be a vast array of emergency vehicles. There will be demonstrations with the OFD Smoke Trailer, Graffiti Van, OPD Robot and Water Cannon, SIDNE, (simulated, impaired driving go cart, Horses, and a rescue demonstration using the Jaws of Life and Life Net Helicopter. There will also be numerous police, fire and other rescue vehicles for kids and adults to see.

ID Kitty says: "Come on out and join me, and the staff of Project Jason! We will be handing out free ID Kits for every member of the family. You're never too old for an ID Kit. Come on out to the Safety Expo, and meet me, Jonny Justice, Mcgruff The Crime Dog, and others. Fun for the whole family. See you there!"
