Four months after an 18-year-old New York man disappeared while traveling with a friend -- a friend who later turned up dead -- his family continues to desperately try to raise awareness about the case.

There are no suspects, no motive and few leads to follow in the disappearance of Nieko Lisi.

"It's like he just vanished off the face of the Earth," Lisi's aunt, Rachael Davis, told The Huffington Post.

Not only are Lisi's whereabouts a mystery, Davis said national media has ignored repeated requests by the family to cover her nephew's case.

Anyone with information about Lisi's whereabouts is asked to call New York State Police at 607-776- 6866. Lisi's family is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to his whereabouts.

Balloons used in hunt for Nieko

By Staff reports
Bath Courier
Posted Mar 11, 2012 @ 09:00 AM

Bath, NY —Friends and family of a missing Jasper man will send hundreds of balloons sky high next Saturday from Pulteney Square.

Nieko Lisi, 18, has not been seen since Sept. 30, 2011 – but the search for the missing youth goes on.

“We just want to say, ‘Nieko, come home,’” said Kayla Hall, organizer of the Bath event.

State police continue to investigate into the whereabouts of the missing teen – who has family ties in Jasper and Addison.

However, there are no suspects, no motives and few leads to follow in Lisi’s disappearance, according to the Huffington Post.

The Huffington Post reports Lisi was en route to Buffalo when he disappeared. He was last seen around 2 p.m. Sept. 30, when he and a friend, Robert Knight, 20, stopped at Lisi’s uncle’s home in Addison.

After Lisi’s disappearance, police contacted Knight, who was unable to provide more details, and died of a reported drug overdose Oct. 9.

Hall said Saturday’s 10 a.m.-2 p.m. event will include a bake sale and information on the missing teen. Supporters will launch hundreds of balloons with information about Lisi around 2 p.m., she said.

Search continues for Addison man: Nieko Lisi last seen in Sept. 2011
Nieko Lisi last seen in September 2011 at age 18

7:45 PM, Jun 16, 2013

The family of a missing Addison man marked his 20th birthday last week still not knowing anything about his fate for nearly two years.

Nieko Lisi was 18 when he was last seen in the Addison area Sept. 30, 2011. He reportedly left town with a family friend, Robert Knight, who died of a possible overdose in Michigan a few weeks later.

Since then, Lisi’s family has traced down every lead, no matter how remote, and prayed he would be found.

“I’m getting phone calls at work, on my cell phone, at home. There have been a lot of rumors, but one of these might turn out to be something,” said Lisi’s mother, Monica Button. “It’s been a horrendous 20 some months. (His birthday) was very, very difficult, as is every day, but some days are better than others.

“We need to keep his face out there. We attended a few missing person conferences,” Button said. “We learned a lot of things, and the No. 1 thing is media. You need to keep a spark there and keep his face out there so that people are aware.”

Lisi had some brushes with the law before he disappeared.

He was incarcerated on a burglary charge and also had a rape charge pending for reportedly having sex with an underage girl, an allegation he vehemently denied, his mother said.

State police investigator Marcie Trimble was assigned the missing person case and is still investigating, although she admits it’s been frustrating.

“No recent leads have come in, but some leads have come in over the time,” Trimble said. “We’d urge the public if they have any information to please give me a call.”

Button continues to hold out hope, but ultimately, she just wants to know the truth.

“Somebody out there has to know something, and I need an answer,” she said. “It’s a daily thing we all struggle with. We want to know where he is. We want to know he’s OK. Good news or bad news, I just want to find him.”

Franklin police find truck missing NY teen drove to Tennessee

WKRN web staff

Published: July 22, 2016, 3:58 pm  Updated: July 22, 2016, 4:09 pm

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – Authorities have found the truck a New York teen drove to Tennessee before he vanished in 2011.

Franklin police and New York State Police investigators say they found the truck locked inside the garage of a Middle Tennessee home while following up on a lead Friday.

The truck, a gray 2004 GMC Canyon, was driven to Franklin by Nieko Lisi in 2011.

The 18-year-old left New York on Sept. 30 that year and arrived in Franklin on Oct. 1. His cell phone last pinged at 4:08 p.m. and he was last seen on Flintlock Drive.

He has not been seen or heard from since, and the truck’s whereabouts remained a mystery until Friday. Authorities did not disclose exactly where it was found.

The discovery comes just one day after Franklin police and New York investigators held a joint press conference on the cold case, urging the public to come forward with any information they might have.

“We don’t have any solid information to lead us to believe he’s not with us anymore, but there has been no contact with him since the day he went missing. That bothers us,” said Investigator Eric Hurd, noting they do have suspicions that foul play was involved.

Nieko is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs around 165 pounds. He has dark hair and muscular build; he was in good shape. He also has a tattoo of a guardian angel on his left side.

The Lisi family is offering a $2,500 reward. Franklin police and Crime Stoppers are offering an additional reward of up to $1,000 for information in this case.

If you have information, please call Crime Stoppers at 615-794-4000.
