St. George couple asks for help locating missing son
Posted 6:02 pm, December 27, 2014, by Carly Figueroa and David Wells, Updated at 10:48pm, December 27, 2014
ST. GEORGE, Utah — A St. George couple has asked for the public’s help in locating their adult son, who disappeared in April after he left for a work trip to California.
Joshua Easley, 26, told his parents he was going to stop for new tires and make another stop in Ogden to visit some friends on the way to California.
Surveillance video footage confirms Josh stopped at a Walmart store with two other peoople and purchased tires on April 20.
David and Lucinda Martin, Josh’s parents, said they haven’t been told who Josh was with when he stopped at Walmart, but they do have the receipt for the tires.
On April 21, Josh called his parents from Ogden to check in. The Martins said there was nothing unusual about the call, but this would be the last time they heard from Josh.
The next call the Martins received about Josh came from the North Ogden Police Department.
“[Lucinda] got a call from North Ogden City saying that they found his car abandoned,” David Martin said.
The car, a primer black Mitsubishi Galant, was found parked in the middle of a street. The keys were found about 10 feet behind it.
FOX 13 spoke with R.J. Schrimm, who originally found the abandoned car on the street in front of his house. Schrimm said he never saw any people in or around the vehicle.
“It was a little bit unusual and a little bit eerie, I guess,” Schrimm said. “I’m more worried about what happened to the guy.”
There was no gas in the vehicle – something Josh’s parents said was highly unusual.
“It just wasn’t right. They said it was out of gas and Josh, if his tank got below a half a tank he was ‘gonna run out of gas’,” Lucinda Martin said.
Police searched the area where Josh’s car was found, but they found no other trace of the missing man.
Josh’s phone hasn’t been powered on since April 21 and there has been no activity on any of his financial accounts.
The missing man’s parents said they fear something terrible has happened and they want closure.
“We’re just looking for someone to tell us, you know, so we can have closure, one way or the other,” David Martin said. “Where he is or if he’s still here with us or if he’s passed. One way or the other, we just wanna know.”
St. George police and North Ogden police are both working on the case. Anyone with information on Josh’s whereabouts is urged to call any of these numbers:

NORTH OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - Family and friends of Joshua Easley gathered in a North Ogden neighborhood to release balloons as they cling onto hope one year after he disappeared.
Hugs were shared and tears were shed as family and friends of Joshua Easley gathered in the same spot where his car was found one year ago.
"There's no word on where he is, what happened to him or quite possibly what the deal is, it's just we're looking for our son," said David Martin, Joshua's father.
Joshua went missing on April 21, 2014. when his car was found, it had no gas, and the keys were found in the street.
"That's the strange stuff about it, his car and his keys were found here, and no word calling us saying "Hey can you send me money, I ran out of gas," and he never ran his car below half a tank, to him that was out of gas," said Martin
Joshua's father believes someone drove the car to North Ogden, as Joshua himself had no ties to the area and was staying in St. George with his parents when he disappeared.
"He was with us for 3 to 4 weeks, he was going to move to California to be with his cousin and work down there with him and was traveling back and forth," said Martin
His father says Joshua had a close relationship with his family and can't imagine him going this long without contacting anyone.
"I find very hard to believe because we talked to him everyday or every other day that's not a possibility, somethings restricting him from calling his mother," said Martin.
And as they released their balloons into the air in his memory they hope someone out there with answers to where Joshua is will come forward and give them peace.
If you have any information about Joshua's whereabouts you are asked to call Dr. Rhoades or Det. Olsen with the North Ogden Police Department at 801-629-8221. Det. Minnick with the St. George Police Department at 435-627-4300. Or the anonymous tip line at 435-627-4373.

ID of missing St. George man found among remains recovered in Weber County
Posted 2:39 pm, November 22, 2015, by Mark Green and Robert Boyd, Updated at 10:23pm, November 22, 2015
WEBER COUNTY, Utah -- Detectives in Weber County worked Sunday to recover a body that was discovered on Ben Lomond Peak, and later Sunday night police stated they had found identification linking the remains to a missing person's case.
Police had originally stated the badly decomposed body would not be identified until a medical examiner got involved, but later Sunday they stated the ID of missing man Joshua Easley was found among the remains.
Easley, 25 of St. George, was last seen in North Ogden in April of 2014. Police stated Sunday the man's car was found abandoned at a trailhead in North Ogden around that same time.
FOX 13 News' Zach Whitney spoke with the man's family earlier this week about the search for their loved one, click here for details.
A post from the Facebook page "Missing Joshua Easley" uploaded Sunday appears to be from Easley's mother, and she extended the family's thanks to everyone who has helped them search for their son.
Authorities in Weber County say the body was found in an isolated area some distance from the Bonneville Shoreline Trail near Ben Lomond Peak. The body was found Saturday by a hiker on an, "isolated, rugged cliff about 3/4 of the way up the mountain."
FOX 13 News' Robert Boyd reports authorities believe the body may have been in that location for several months. Police stated the body is too badly decomposed to be identified by sight, so, while the presence of Easley's ID indicates it is him, it will ultimately be up to a medical examiner to make formal positive identification.
Police first reported the incident just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday, and they worked for several hours to recover the body.
Specific details regarding the time and manner of death have not been released.

Police: ID found on remains belongs to Joshua Easley, missing since 2014
By Daryl Lindsey and Lisa Nico Sunday, November 22nd 2015
(KUTV) Police discovered the identification of Joshua Easley, a man who went missing from Ogden in April 2014, on a body discovered Sunday on Ben Lomond Peak.
According to the Weber County Sheriff's Office, a hiker discovered the body on Saturday afternoon. Because they were losing light, officers had to wait until Sunday to make the two hour trek up to retrieve the "severely decomposed" remains.
"It's likely that that person could have died up there some time ago, and wasn't discovered until today," said Lt. Lane Findlay with WCSO.
Police confirmed Sunday that Easley's identification card was found among the remains.
Easley, 26, disappeared in April of 2014. According to police, officials found his car at the Bonneville Shoreline trail-head in North Ogden around the same time.
Although the Weber County Sheriff's Office did refer to the area as a "crime scene," Lt. Findlay says the public is not in any danger right now.
"We handle every case as a homicide, although it may not be," Findlay said.
Police will provide official confirmation of Easley's identity after medical examiners can review dental records and other evidence.
