Welcome to the Project Jason Forum for the Missing, an extension of the services we provide as a part of our nonprofit organization's mission statement. Because of the sensitive nature of our work in missing persons, our posting guidelines will be different than on other forums. Please see our main website at http://www.projectjason.org  for more information about our services and mission.

A Note to Spammers: Project Jason has a zero tolerance policy in regards to spamming on the forum. Members who add other websites into ANY of their profile information or choose a username that is a website address, will be banned immediately. Websites which pertain to missing persons and that are not approved by us, will be removed from the member’s profile information.

This is a forum used primarily as a vehicle to disseminate information and photos of missing persons of all ages with the desired end result being location.

Due to legalities and privacy laws, only persons who have been reported as missing to law enforcement and have an active rather than closed case can be posted.

Subject lines of posts should be uniform to those that already exist. Please refrain from using icons or other means to highlight certain threads. All missing persons deserve an equal opportunity to be seen; therefore bumping of threads should be only done on an occasional basis. (Please see an example of a posting template for a missing person in the thread entitled Case Posting Template.)

The content of postings should be similar to those already posted and contain a small photo of the missing person as well as the physical and last seen information. All sightings should be reported to a law enforcement agency rather than individuals.  Contact information for family members of missing persons, such as phone numbers and email addresses, will not be posted for their security.

For those who wish to post news stories or other articles, you must cite the author, date, and post the URL (website address) to give proper credit to the source of the material. (See the Case and New Story Posting Templates thread for more information.)

Project Jason's primary goal in using this forum is to provide awareness for these missing loved ones. The second goal is to provide a safe harbor for their families to see news and information and get support in our private forum areas.

Project Jason's forum is not a sleuthing forum. Other forums exist for that purpose. Registered members may post news, supportive statements, and other helpful information. Questioning of family members is prohibited. It is not up to Project Jason staff to discern which persons may or may not be qualified to investigate a missing person's case.

Should a registered member of this forum contact a registered family member of a missing person via any mechanism supplied on this forum, that person will be banned. Our forum is a safe harbor for them.

There will be no posted comments as to the character of family members of the missing, or the missing person themselves.

The names of persons of interest, companions of missing person, or suspects in the case should not be published unless released by a law enforcement agency or other authorized source, and published online. Generally, if these persons are mentioned in a media source news article, that information has been released by the authorities. Personal or unpublished details of a case should not be posted, as that could hinder finding the missing person and/or jeopardize justice.

Unfortunately, there are groups and organizations in existence which make claims they assist families of the missing, but they are not truly qualified, and in some cases, have motives which are self-serving, and possibly even harmful to the families of the missing. Because our guiding philisophy is care and support of the families, we cannot allow any "advertising" of such groups.

Project Jason only refers family members to other organizations or groups with which we have established close and trusted relationships. This is for the protection of the family members we serve, and to ensure that our good name stays intact so that we can continue to accomplish our mission for years to come.

There will be no visions, dreams, or "psychic" or other paranormal revelations posted as those are unproven and can cause hurt to the families and prejudice to the case. Project Jason stands firm in their policies that since psychics play no proven part in solving a missing person's case, we will not refer them to family members, family members to them, nor "advertise" their claimed services.

Should a researcher find an unidentified person's case that appears to match one of the listed cases here, he or she should contact the law enforcement agency listed on the case. Possible matches should not be posted as it could be upsetting to family members. Please go to the proper authorities with this type of information.

All tips and leads are to be submitted by the person with the tip or lead to the law enforcement agency listed on the post. Since Project Jason is not an investigative agency, we do not accept leads or tips. DOE researchers are asked to contact the law enforcement agency listed on the case information if they want law enforcement to compare a missing person to an unidentified person.

Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to act as a go-between from DOE researchers or tipsters to law enforcement, and since the DOE researcher or tipster would have all their supporting documentation, it makes sense for them to take responsibility for the contact and making a potential match or submitting a viable lead.

What is encouraged and welcomed:

Postings of encouragement, hope, prayers, offer of assistance with poster campaigns, etc.

We welcome our family members, friends, peers, supporters, researchers, media, and law enforcement partners to join us in our work. No effort is too small.

Families of the missing are our honored guests and will be treated as such. We strive to provide them a safe harbor of comfort AND information that could be helpful to them in their search.

Any posts that do not fall within these guidelines may be edited or removed without notice to the author. Registered members who are not willing to follow these guidelines will have their membership terminated.

Guidelines may be updated, so please refer to this posting periodically to check for new information.

If you have any questions about posting on this forum, please write to the moderators of the Project Jason forum or post your inquiry in the Questions Forum.

We welcome you, and thank you for caring about the missing!

If you have seen any of our missing persons, please call the law enforcement agency listed on the post. All missing persons are loved by someone, and their families deserve to find the answers they seek in regards to the disappearance.
